[unanswered] What if Amish people immigrate into Europe. Would it help Europeans escape the forced “digital transformation”?

As I also posted on the other thread: this isn't true.

While there’s a big push to book an appointment online and do smaller admin stuff yourself (requesting an ID and driving license), municipalities still have to allow people to book on the spot, or help them on the kiosks available. Actual efficiency depends on the friendliness of the administrative people in question I guess, but it’s absolutely still possible to not have to go online for it.

    From the flemish website

(…)Maar waar ze altijd welkom zijn op het gemeentehuis als ze dat wensen.

aka: They’re always still welcome to visit public services in person if they prefer to do that.

Also really depends on the frequency and reason. Did something go horribly wrong once and does this one-time effort fix it or gives enough time for a decent solution down the road? Sure, I'll put in some extra work. Don't look for me though when it's resolved, I'm on holiday with all the overtime I should've gotten. If it's a structural problem because management wants to squeeze as much money out of their employees and refuses to hire enough people... Fuck that. And yeah, corporate uses the first thing as an excuse, luring you into staying longer "one more time, we really can't do it without you".

Yeah, I grew up with cats, my mom grew up growing and repotting aloe vera. Only my last cat decided she actually likes to nom them. Figured out that they were toxic when I went on holiday and brought my cat over to them. She came back with a swollen mouth and chin. Aloe has been banished, every single plant got googled and cat-approved (or thrown out/banished to outside).

  • What exactly is the process of traveling by plane from US (where I am) to Japan for a few weeks?

Not OP, not from the US and never been in Japan but I travel a lot in general: always assume local currency, at the very least it's going to be cheaper and quite probably only very touristy places or airport only might accept $$. Here you can pre-order cash at your local bank and return any excess notes after. Exchange booths are usually a rip-off, and withdrawal abroad might cost extra, check with your bank.

Also don't assume people speak English. They might, but treat that as a bonus.

Only had ublock active, still happens. For now it still goes away on refresh or if I switch adblockers (so I'm assuming cleaning out the cache daily will work too).

Maybe for short times, but I've heard about dogs getting paralyzed at the groomers' from being put in a harness for too long. Veins get pinched. And that's with a harness meant for dogs, not something improvised like this.

Massive, won't melt, won't catch fire. Ceramic tiles would work just as well imho, though a tad lighter (which might actually be good, given the thickness of that shelf)

Not in the curriculum, though a sister of a classmate actually fell while running with scissors. Permanently blind in one eye, and a lozenge as pupil. Indeed not something you forget easily.

They're absolutely amazing. And pretty common nowadays. If a store has baking tuns and a baked-goods section, they probably have silicon baking sheets. Just make sure you get the thin, non-stretchy kind.

    Shawls!

I recently took crocheting back up after a decade, and this is my first finished shawl ever. Two of my friends are getting married in autumn, and they both like to wear shawls so I decided I'd make one for each of them (and if they don't like it, I'm sure their cats will appreciate their new basket liner). The one at the top is just finished, and is a free pattern Klaziena shawl with Scheepjes brambleberry whirl. The end corners are a bit turned inside, but well, first shawl ever, could've been worse. This is the second one, Ceylon Tea shawl pattern with Peppermint Patty scheepjes whirl. Still got quite a ways to go, but I'm really loving the pattern! ![](https://mander.xyz/pictrs/image/2b8072cf-9a90-41ba-aa80-f6eb0d4bfc67.jpeg) [Pattern Klaziena shawl](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/klaziena-shawl) [Pattern Ceylon Tea shawl](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ceylontea-shawl)
