In one occasion during WW2 Russian paratroopers have been deployed from a plane from low altitude without parachutes. Again on snow. And only a third of them died.

Reminds me of the greatest of all UFO channels I found on YouTube. Guy recorded a military plane landing. Describing “If you look hard enough you see small, disc like objects harassing the plane! There are aliens in broad daylight!” Those “objects” were insects flying in front of his camera.
