They just released a new version of Aether this month. I just downloaded it. I'm not sure how active it is, but it's still being developed/released.

Hey there. What do you think of blockchain social networks, like steemit, etc? Do you have to be into crypto to join them? I was thinking of trying one out.

This might be counterintuitive, but breathwork has been known to help deal with trauma and work through trauma. I'd link them to a breathwork video if they were willing. If not, that's fine too.
Hi. I was wondering what are some good fediverse social media sites? I know of two, mastodon and movim, are there any others?
nerdyguy1990 Now • 100%
I would say it's not their fault, they've had to deal with a lot, but nothing that's happened to them is their fault.
nerdyguy1990 Now • 50%
I mean, technically it's not, everyone has some sort of trauma in some way.

I'm pretty sure these people haven't been shown an ounce of kindness
Hey everyone! So I recently joined a very toxic reddit alternative (not this one) and there's a lot of hate speech on there that makes me want to scream into the void, but anyways. I decided to kind of "troll" people on this platform by asking what their unresolved trauma is and why they have such misdirected hatred toward one group or another. Wish me luck? Do you think we should "troll" more people with kindness?
nerdyguy1990 Now • 100%
No I love lemmy. It's not a very toxic community, unlike other reddit alternatives which allow hate speech, but that's a different topic for a different day.

I just joined Poal.co and I already regret it.

I mean, I would, but then my hope for humanity would dwindle even more.
Hey humans! I found a reddit alternative I was thinking of joining, but there are some forums on there that I disagree with one hundo percent, and I'm wondering if I should still join the site? Would I still be an ally if I join the site? The forum names are mostly racist slurs, etc and so forth.

I read a passage in the article, "how the internet could be and can still be" and it reminded me of the protocol Gemini. Gemini is a smaller network, similar to http, and was actually supposed to be the main protocol for how the internet functioned, but then http came in and now we have ads, spyware, etc. Basically, and this sounds boring, I know, but the internet was supposed to be read-only, since Gemini network doesn't have videos or anything along those lines. There are LOTS of Gemini-based browsers that demonstrate the Gemini network. It's pretty cool.

I'm bothered the user was allowed to post hateful things in the first place. It ruins the atmosphere of a site.
Hi. Okay, maybe "overrun" isn't the right word, but I went to check Ramble out and some user by the name of H*tler_was_right has been posting a lot. Not sure if this is because Ruqqus has changed their stance on free speech, but it's gross, and disheartening to see sites like Ramble or any site, really, be overrun by n*zis or white suprem*cists. Just my rant for the day.

I wasn't sure where to post, my bad.
Hi. I just heard about Ruqqus and all I can say is, I'm pretty sure poal.co will be the next to fall. I went and checked it out and someone posted a homophobic slur on the front page as the title of a post. I was like "fuck this shit" I do support free speech, but there should be a line somewhere, right?

I was worried when I saw the title of this community, but then I saw it was pictures of actual red pills and my blood pressure is low now.

As someone who "tried out" Ruqqus for a hot minute, that place was a dumpster fire of racism, hatred and just all around toxic.

I've been using it on and off. It's very good. I really hope they add more secure tracking protection and a hideable sidebar.
Hey there! I'm looking for good song suggestions by female indie folk/indie rock artists about songs about the environment, nature, etc. Preferably about climate change, saving the planet, topics like that.

I say start your own compost. Most stuff that gets recycled, I think 75% gets rejected, so start small with your compost. Add egg shells, banana peels, apple cores, newspapers to start. And grass clippings. Grass clippings will fill it up quick though.

I liked the cryptorewards feature, but also got bored/lost interest as well. I do like the privacy features built-in, as opposed to using an add-on.

I'm a big fan of firefox, but not an avid user. I'm currently using Librewolf. I would choose Firefox over Brave in a heartbeat.
Hi. I'm curious if there are any other browsers out there doing what Brave is doing, with the whole cryptorewards, and privacy enhancements?

Lots of breadtubers from /r/breadtube have started using Odysee. Also, what's the name of your channel? I'll follow you.

I liked Dat. They had lots of programs and software on there. I might be thinking of Block browser or whatever the name is.
Hi! I've gotten into composting a lot more, and I try to do my best to compost everything that is compostable (Napkins, qtips, coffee grounds, etc) I even have a plastic bag I put all my compostables in, so I can put them in my bin when the bag is full. I even asked my coffee shop for their coffee grounds, which I'm hoping to make a weekly thing. What are some things you compost and do for the environment?
Hey Lemmy! I am curious if anyone here has tried the Wim Hof Method out. What was your experience like, did you notice any changes, positive or negative?
Hi. I wasn't sure where to post this, hopefully this is the right area. In lemmy's opinion, what's the best eco/environmentally friendly web browser? Basically low on resources, saves battery, etc. Private and secure is a bonus.
Didn't know where to post this, so hopefully this is the right spot. Please boycott Brave. I've recently learned that not only is their CEO bad, but their fanbase is toxic, too. I will no longer be using Brave for that reason.
Hi. I'm downloading a torrent using BiglyBT, and it says I have no seeds for my torrent. Is there a way to find more seeds for my torrent? I was using i2p to download, but my download kept getting stalled, so I decided to switch over to BiglyBT.
Hi. Not sure where to post this, hopefully it fits here. If you haven't heard of Brave browser by now, it's made by the ex-CEO of Mozilla, and is prided on being private, and integrates crypto/bitcoin. I like the idea of crypto, and would like to get more into crypto/blockchain, but I'm not sure I can support brave, or it's CEO. Do I swallow my pride and just use Brave? Would it be worth it, just for the privacy additions and crypto? One reason I'm hesitant, is Firefox now has site-to-site cookie protection, whereas Brave does not. Mostly, I'm arguing with myself at this point, on whether to use Brave, and swallow my pride. Sure, as CEO of Mozilla, he made a bad political call. People can grow, right? Someone rebutted to me that Obama didn't support gay marriage either, and neither did Hillary Clinton. Sorry to harp on this topic so much. What would y'all do? Sidenote: A breadtuber I really like uses brave, so Brave can't be all that bad?
Hi. I posted a similar, lengthier post on raddle.me on this very topic. I've been a reddit user for a while, and I'm not leaving reddit, I love the site. I decided to journey onto other alternatives, just to see what's out there. Ooh boy! My first alternative to reddit I tried was notabug.io. I noticed it's much more unmoderated, and saw some words I wish I could unsee. Everyone has a right to say whatever they want, I'm not saying they can't. Second alternative I tried was Ruqqus. I'm still a member, but for how long, who knows? If you've heard of Voat, you'll understand why I won't be staying on Ruqqus for long. I saw a lot of white power/white supremacist advocacy, anti-semitic, racism, and homophobic threads, etc. They use the N-word a lot. Like, a lot. Last alternative I tried was Aether. I used it in the past, and it wasn't at all toxic or bad. Recently, it's gotten worse. Much, much worse. They have an NSFW section, and same thing as Ruqqus. Lots of homophobia and racism. I just felt I needed to air my grievances. Thanks for reading.
