Thank you for the warning, and yes, they are special to me. One's a homemade spongebob blanket I've had since I was little!

I'll say upfront that this is the best answer in this thread.
Firstly, not too concerned about bugs. They can be wiped off, and are a minor annoyance I'm willing to deal with. Though I'll put them on my bed when it's not being used!
The main reason I'm concerned is that the blankets will always be right next to my bed, so that I can grab them and throw them off easily without moving much. So a lounging chair is off the table, since it'd be far away.
I'm thinking about getting a mat for this purpose, since while it'd still be ground, there'd be a barrier between the carpet and my blankets.

i still use them during the summer. usage isn't limited to covering, but also hugging.
I have two blankets I really like and use frequently, but I don't like having on my bed (due to them being too warm). If I had them on the floor overnight when I don't need them, would it damage the blankets? Basement is always chilly (below 70F), even during summer, so I have good reason to believe it is climate controlled.

This has to do with Project92, not just with Facebook hosting Mastodon instances. I wouldn't put it past them to discretely host instances to gather data, but we can't see them, and therefore we can't defend against them (and mass-defederation of potential instances is a recipe for disaster).

this is 10x funnier when you're on kbin and the magazine name has kbin.social. like yes i'd like to moderate this lemmy community that shows up as a kbin magazine.

Oh I know how the Fediverse works, I was just commenting on how sometimes I have to question which instance the post is hosted on. For example, I see you're on lemmy.world.
Thank you for trying to help though!

I mean the fact it was a pathetic protest method and and admins still shot it down speaks leagues about how much they care about their users. I don't say this word lightly: the admins are snowflakes.

i'll be honest hearing lemmy while being on kbin threw me into a loop, made me wonder if i was in a lemmy community and not a kbin magazine lmao. i gotta get used to this.
But yeah, both Lemmy and Kbin need the same flexibility of Mastodon. The more easily one can move, the less likely megacorps will see value in gobbling up instances. Long-term goal might be cross-platform profile compatibility, but right now that's a pipe dream.

Mastondon does allow you to export your profiles and set them up on a different instance; I reckon some folks will figure out a solution on how to easily jump ship.
