It's not too difficult to establish a Signal account from a burner number from a prepaid sim card. I currently have a Signal account tied to a sim not in my name. Getting a burner with cash is an option. Or, if you're lucky enough to live near a payphone and can gain access to the number, you can activate a signal with a phone call.

I think the intent is baby steps for those who aren't already privacy invested. Getting parents or tech illiterate to switch to Signal is a win. They weren't hiding their number anyway.

Thank you for this inspiration. I've also been things about a switch to Mint but the only thing holding me back is my Steam library. I'm going to dig into it a little more and look at the compatibility of my games. It's encouraging to hear others making the leap.

While I don't think it's likely as a way to trick people to connecting to get their phone number, it was a rental car which opened them up to impersonation scams. Knowing they just rented from the company and where in the city provides quite a bit of information on you.

Probably comes from a combination of belief in American exceptionalism, tradition, and either popular opinion remains with reciting the pledge or a lack desire to change.

States are managed individually for the most part and only 47/50 still require reciting the pledge (with some exceptions). Without a call for change from the people, it would be political suicide for any lawmaker to come out for a change like this. Opponents could use this decision as a claim of lack of patriotism.

The context of the origin of the US' pledge of allegiance is it came shortly after the end of their Civil War when there was still a lot o political tension. A desire was born to instill national loyalty in children.

Wow, literally just got my wife a steam deck to play this game with me and created her an EA account last week. Joining each other was annoying using the EA friend's list and the steam deck trackpad. Hope this update streamlines the process.

Update: Invites using the Steam friend list was simple and worked well.

Recently watched both with my children in order and they loved them. The movies hit harder emotionally now that I'm older with children (a few tears were shed).

The animation is beautiful and a couple songs stuck with my kids. "There are no cats in America, and the streets are paved with cheese!"

I agree the second one is more fun, but still enjoyed the first.

After googling, there were two more sequels and a tv series I haven't seen.
