2002 Tundra here. It is definitely the perfect size for a truck. However, now that it’s pretty old and beat up, and I’ve moved into a denser city, I think it’s getting time for something new :(

NOTE: Someone probably has developed it, but I’m too poor to buy a decent computer.

I’ve been wanting the shittiest, most grindy military logistics game possible for a bit now. Like, “oh you didn’t upgrade your Sock factory? Fuck you now your platoon has trench foot” type Grindy.

    I want to feel pain

  • Non-religious Republicans of Lemmy, how do you reconcile your non-religious convictions with a party that bases a lot of its policies on religion?

I’m not an expert by any means, but I want to say that something similar happened in Australia. Basically, they gave everyone the deal of, say, $500 per gun if turned in voluntarily, or seizure and no money if found. Then they simply restricted ammo sales and eventually the problem fixed itself. (Source: my ass)

One thing that I’ve noticed as someone trying to wean myself off of Reddit: Lemmy just feels more chill. Like no I don’t have to open it every few minutes and doomscroll, it’s going to be a lot slower coming than the firehouse that is Reddit.

Tbf I don’t think that’s a design as much as it is just smaller, but it still feels nice.

  • Looking for a book on pre-Columbian Native American history

Hmm it’s not as much about Pacific Northwest, but the book 1491 is extensive. It covers the history and life of central/South American powers like the Aztec and Inca, as well as the more nomadic lives of the North American people.

It’s more making the argument that the native Americans were extremely advanced for the time, especially compared to the Europeans. However, their advancement was within a different geography, meaning that their problems, and therefore solutions, were different. It’s a very interesting book that I would highly recommend!

It wasn’t opendesk unfortunately. I saw it maybe a year ago and I just remembered it recently.

I think it was run by a nonprofit (or maybe it was some kind of company, idk) that I think both did planning for communities officially and provided the resources to do it on your own. Their wiki had multiple different sections, such as furniture, bus stops, beergardens, farmers markets, and more.

I want to say it got started in Portland but that could be a fever dream :/

  • I remember seeing a wiki awhile ago (possibly on the r/solarpunk subreddit?) that was dedicated to providing people with open source furniture. Primarily they used a laser cutter and cheap plywood for ease of use. The end goal was to create public spaces that were easy to set up in the communities. For the life of me I can't find the original wiki! I'd love to rediscover it as I'm moving and will finally be able to work on some of the projects. Does anyone know the website that I am talking about?

Actually the other day I made a delicious Greek wrap that’s very similar to what you’re describing, but I also added fish. All it had was chickpeas, cucumbers, onions, black olives, and feta cheese. Then I made a garlic and lemon sauce and tossed the salad in it. I wrapped it in a tortilla and it was great!

Yeah, I'm definitely on the fence about it. I agree about the bad faith participation with downvote brigading, but I also feel that having downvotes is, overall, a good way to gauge community agreement.

I think what I would like the most is a visible upvote/downvote percentage ratio. That way you could see not only the net upvotes - downvotes like on reddit, but the actual participation by the community.

    Creating a recipe using ChatGPT

The other day I wanted to try something new, so I asked ChatGPT to design an asian-inspired meal using fish and Tofu as the main proteins. Here is what it came back with: *Certainly! Here's an Asian-inspired meal idea featuring fish and tofu as the main proteins: Main Dish: Teriyaki Glazed Salmon with Tofu Stir-Fry Ingredients: 4 oz salmon fillet 4 oz firm tofu, cubed 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce (store-bought or homemade) 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1 tablespoon sesame oil 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 garlic clove, minced 1 small onion, thinly sliced 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced 1 cup broccoli florets 1 carrot, julienned Optional garnish: sliced green onions and sesame seeds Instructions: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the salmon fillet on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the salmon with teriyaki sauce, coating it evenly. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. While the salmon is baking, prepare the tofu stir-fry. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce and sesame oil. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sliced onion, and sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent. Add the bell pepper, broccoli florets, and julienned carrot to the pan. Stir-fry for 5-6 minutes or until the vegetables are crisp-tender. Push the vegetables to one side of the pan and add the cubed tofu to the other side. Pour the soy sauce and sesame oil mixture over the tofu and stir gently to coat. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the tofu to heat through. Remove the salmon from the oven and serve alongside the tofu stir-fry. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. This meal combines the savory flavors of teriyaki-glazed salmon with a colorful and nutritious tofu stir-fry. It offers a good balance of protein, healthy fats, and vegetables. Feel free to adjust the seasoning and ingredients based on your preferences. Enjoy your Asian-inspired dinner!* This meal was delicious! I did make a few adjustments to the recipe though. For the fish, I let it marinate in the teriyaki sauce for a few hours, and for the tofu, I squeezed it and marinated it in the stir fry sauce as well. Looking back I think I would have liked to also add peanut sauce and sriracha to the stir-fry, but it was good without it too!
