To my knowledge Walmart doesn’t sell AR-15’s. They don’t sell guns at all where I live, but apparently they might sell shotguns in other parts of the country. As far as your first question goes, that’s not relevant to if it’s a machine gun or not, which it is not.

Some people eat dogs. Some people eat cats. Just not the people she’s claiming.

They are buying all the houses, with they being Marjorie’s donors.

They are monopolizing government services, with they being Marjorie’s donors.

They are controlling the weather through pollution, industrialization of green areas, and slew of other problems, with they being Marjorie’s donors.

They are starting forest fires because of their weather control from the point above, again, they are her donors.

They are taking all of our jobs. Guess who they is?

In each case, “they” are the corporatocracy, the ruling class, the billionaires that she panders to.

In college I was frequently hungry without any food. One of my friends said “buy a 20 pound bag of rice and you’ll never go hungry again”, and he was right. Idk how I forgot that, considering I was raised on beans, rice, and government cheese. I just needed someone to connect the dots for me.

Do they though? One could ask if it is within the president’s official authority and responsibilities to personally carry out an assassination. I think they’d rule that it is not an official act, because in no way is that part of the office.

It is nice. It’s been a welcome change from my hometown. They also have neon flags on sticks at most crosswalks. You grab one from the bucket, wave it around while crossing, and drop it in the bucket on the other side when you’re finished. I always grab a few if I notice the other side of the street doesn’t have any. Those flags would have all been stolen on day one in my hometown.

I remember some years ago that a bar in California was serving shots with black widow spiders in them. So, apparently you can eat the venom from a black widow without issue, and they’re pretty dangerous spiders.

Ah, it’s too bad you didn’t get to see more of SF. The city itself is neat because it’s built on top of landfill, has tons of hills, good public transportation, and embraces weirdness. The areas surrounding the city are the real gem though. The view from the top of Twin Peaks where you can see the whole bay, the land across the golden gate, all of SF, and the Pacific Ocean, is stunning enough that it caused the Brit who was with me to declare that it’s enough to make one believe in God.

Man, I miss Fry’s! I was fortunate enough to visit that L.A. Fry’s in its heyday too! That place was heaven for a computer nerd such as myself. I was so stoked when we moved to the Seattle area and discovered there was a Fry’s in Renton (near Seattle). Both my wife and I were extremely bummed when covid killed Fry’s. They were already in decline, but covid really finished them off.

Anyways, the USA definitely has some beautiful and amazing places. I’ve only been to B.C. and Victoria in Canada, but I love it there too. I always feel like we’re so crass and aggressive whenever I come back across the border from a Canada trip. You guys are all so friendly up there, and I love it. It’s a beautiful country too.

We’re not neighbors with 43 countries, so we don’t have as much immediate exposure to everything going on around those countries. For one, because it’s not going on around us, like it is for you. That said, I thought I had you with the Prime Minister comment. Of course it’s Boris Johnson. Doh! It seems you’ve had 4 prime ministers in 2 years? What’s going on with that? Like I said, we don’t really get exposure to what is happening over there, so unless we specifically go looking for it, I guess we’re out of the loop. We know what’s going on in Mexico and Canada though.

Amusement parks tend to bring some pretty hefty people off the couches. The Hollywood Hills are usually pretty healthy. What did you think of SF and L.A.? SF used to be my favorite city in the world. That was twenty years ago though. I’ve heard that it is in serious decline now. Some parts of Hollywood can be cool to visit, but L.A. in general is completely overwhelming to me. I want to get the fuck out after 2-3 days. To be fair to L.A., I have the same reaction to NYC. I think they’re really neat and amazing for a day or two and then I just want to escape and get away from the oppressive concrete jungle.

Has anyone here used the onboard closed captioning in iOS?

I switched to Pixel a few years ago because it has on device closed captioning, and iOS did not. I read that iOS does now, and I'm thinking about switching back. Has anyone here used it? Does it work well? Does it obscure much of the screen? I'm really interested in a screenshot if anyone is willing to share one. Thanks.

We've pretty much completely discounted astrology as having any meaningful impact on a person's personality. But what about the seasons of the year, and the weather that comes with them? The stars position in the sky are an indication of the seasons on earth. Right? Wouldn't a baby that is born into a world of sunshine and warmth have a different early development than one born into the cold and darkness of winter? Has any research been done on the impacts of a baby's environmental conditions on their personality?

I know that lions can be scared away when they see humans approaching without fear, but what if they're ambushed? How about a tiger, or a polar bear? If I manage to sneak up on one of these apex predators, and jump out, screaming, and running at it, will it run? Or will it just turn around and kill me? I guess I'm wondering if apex predators have a fight or flight reflex, and how strong it is if they do. Do they tend to resort to fighting more often if they're the baddest tiger in the jungle vs the runt of the litter? Do they quickly assess the threat and respond accordingly, or does a flight instinct kick in and send them running?

We all know the outcome of the investigation into his island, with his eventual arrest and death. But what became of his staff? You don't run an operation that large without the help of dozens, or hundreds of people. Most of those people were accomplices to multiple felonies. I'm sure there were a few who didn't know what sort of operation they were a part of, but many must have. I don't remember reading about any other arrests other than his. Were there other arrests, and if so, how many? What about his suppliers? The gangs that would sell him slaves, and the human traffickers who smuggled the victims? Did they all get off Scott free?

We watched this last night and it's definitely the best movie we've seen all year, probably the last few years. Viggo Mortensen was nominated for Best Actor for his performance in this movie and it's apparent why. He completely disappears into the role, with no remnant of Aragorn, or Captain Fantastic anywhere on screen. You forget who you are even watching. Mahershala Ali did win an Academy Award for his performance, which is reserved, powerful, intriguing, and believable all at once. I've only seen Ali portray villains before, and I had forgotten about my previous conception of him within the first few scenes. The chemistry between the two actors is remarkable, and they play off each other very well throughout the movie. We found the movie to have a perfect blend of seriousness, humor, heartbreak, and triumph. The script is great, the acting superb, the directing stellar, and the music is flat out amazing. The movie doesn't pull punches with the overt racism of the South during that era. The pair - genius musician, and street smart bodyguard - encounter multiple dangerous situations. They save each other, both literally and figuratively, throughout the movie. Overall I can't praise this movie enough. It is an outstanding accomplishment, and deserved every award that it won. Check it out!

I've been using Arch on an old laptop for a few years now, but I use Pop on my gaming desktop. I've wanted to switch to Arch for a long while now, but haven't had the motivation (if it ain't broke, and all that). I'm finally ready to do it, but I'm a little concerned about my gaming experience. Are there any gotchas for gaming with an i7 and a 3070 ti that I should be aware of before I make the switch? Is it pretty seamless? Can I still use a freesync monitor with the g-sync compatibility setting? Is it easy to install the Nvidia drivers and well documented on the wiki? I'm open to information about any other sticky scenarios you guys encountered getting Arch set up for use as a daily driver and gaming computer. Edit: is there any way to backup my internal drive mappings and mounting points, or will I need to set all of that up again? I've only ever used Gnome for Arch, but one of the things that has me motivated to switch is that KDE 6 supports HDR. Does anyone have experience with it? Is it a pretty slick and simple DE?

Apparently if the majority of your camp supplies are alcohol, the game now gives you a hangover debuff after a long rest. Thankfully it doesn't last very long, but that's a fun little update.

I'm currently on my 3rd playthrough, and I'm playing as a dark urge character who gives into his urges. For spoiler prevention I'll describe what I just finished as vaguely as possible. I just completed the durge objective that gives you a powerful reward in act 2. This is depressing. All of the good that I accomplished in my first two playthroughs is absent. My camp is nearly empty. Lae zel's lifeless body has been laying in my camp for 2 full acts. Karlach, Wyll, Zevlor, Damon, Jaheira, and many others are dead, either by my hand or because of my actions. I didn't fully appreciate just how lonely and depressing, self-serving life would be. I have more gold and loot than either of my other playthroughs, and I'm more powerful, but to what end? My own lonely existence? I don't think that I will continue past this point. I've accomplished what I set out to do, which was experience the game as an evil character. I don't think I need another 50 hours of this to pound the point home. Hats off to Larian for making such an emotional and realistic game, full of vibrant and exciting characters. I don't enjoy the world where I have betrayed them all.

In my first playthrough he was able to talk to Raphael outside of the Gauntlet of Shar. This time Raphael just left without ever giving Astarion a chance to ask any questions. So, I reloaded a save, did the whole House of Healing fight again, made sure to have Astarion selected when we approached the Gauntlet, and it auto switched to my character when the conversation started and he left again. Have they changed this sequence? Is it bugged? Do only certain dialogue choices give you a chance to barter?
