Now a disclaimer; I'm not FtM, but non-binary and struggling with vocal dysphoria. I've had voice masculinization therapy on my mind for a long while now, but unfortunately gender-affirming vocal therapy is near-nonexistent in the conservative country I live in. (fuck this place tbh) Therefore, I've been thinking of having sessions online instead, but I've had difficulties finding any practitioners or services. Even the few I *have* found, were extremely expensive at $120-150 USD *per individual session!* Needless to say I cannot afford that sort of budget (⁠＠⁠_⁠＠⁠;⁠) So... any online recommendations where I can get therapy for cheaper than this? Any and all advice is much needed and appreciated.

How do y'all deal with programs not supported on Linux?

I've been seeing all these posts about Linux lately, and looking at them, I can honestly see the appeal. I'd love having so much autonomy over the OS I use, and customize it however I like, even having so many options to choose from when it comes to distros. The only thing holding me back, however, is incompatibility issues. A lot of programs I work with very often are Windows-exclusive, and alternatives supporting Linux are rare. So I guess I'm stuck with Windows, since I deem those particular programs really important. Any advice from Linux nerds here? All constructive replies are very appreciated.

Too slow at running 5K after C25K

I've been doing the Couch to 5K program for a while now, and I'm currently at the last week of it. I can now run for 30 minutes straight, but way less than 5K in that time. The issue is that if I *were* to run 5K, I would only be able to run it a lot slower than 40, let alone 30 minutes, at my current pace... which, according to a quick Google search, is a much worse time than the average novice runner at my age and sex. So what now? I'm kind of clueless about what to do after this program, because now that I can run for 30 minutes, I want to *actually* run 5K in those 30 minutes, like the program implies. I need some help on how to study INTERMEDIATE Japanese...

It seems like it's every day that I get advice that is aimed at beginner learners, like how to learn kana, or to pick up Genki or Minna no Nihongo, or use an app like Duolingo or Lingodeer. However, I'm closer to intermediate level (approximately N3, maybe N2), and I'm kind of stumped when it comes to studying. For example, one of the most common pieces of advice I get is to immerse myself in the language, for example by playing games or watching movies/anime in Japanese. However, that method does get really frustrating in many ways. For example, when there are no closed captions available for Japanese movies, which makes understanding much harder, especially if the characters speak very quickly. Another nuisance this method has, is when I have to look up a word or two for every single sentence I hear/read. This is made even more annoying when a certain word contains complicated kanji, so I have to type it into the dictionary radical by radical. Doing that so often can be a real pain in the backside and suck the enjoyment out of the game/film. And also, it gets even tougher when I come across some slang or colloquial expression, or onomatopoeia, or a grammar structure I haven't heard of before. During these times, I'm not very sure how to look those up, since I'm most likely not going to find these in the dictionary I use. Moreover, I'm not quite sure how to learn vocabulary with this method of media consumption, since it's not uncommon for me to encounter a word once or twice and then never again, making it difficult to remember. I'd learn it with flashcards, but 1, making flashcards takes a long time. And 2, it gets quite boring, and I tend to forget words very easily, even with Anki. I also heard of advice saying I should pick up an advanced textbook, like Tobira. However, the grinding aspect of just translating sentences into a specific grammar pattern repeatedly always felt boring. Even with Genki, I kinda just speedran/skimmed through the exercises, made notes out of the grammar explanations, and solidified what I learned through graded readers (which were still a pain, because they weren't very interesting to read, to be honest). I have a feeling that despite being given these pieces of advice, there must be a wrong and right way of using them. So, I think I might be misusing the advice I've been given (either that, or I've been given the wrong advice, which I kind of doubt). If anyone out here can give me corrections on how to study correctly, as well as perhaps giving new advice, would be very much appreciated. 読んでくれてありがとうございました。

Does this bug on the mobile site happen to you too?

On mobile, no matter which instance I browse in, and no matter what I sort by (top day, active, etc.), after a bit of scrolling I suddenly get an influx of recently created posts that spams the whole page, and I can't continue scrolling because the spam just keeps going. I'm not even sorting by new. Does this happen to anyone else? Have any of you found a solution to this yet? I mostly use social media on my phone and this bug occurs so often that it pretty much renders Lemmy unusable for me :/

I know it's quite an old topic, but I myself have been introduced to Vocaloid merely 3 years ago, and it has been my biggest interest ever since. So I'm wondering whether there are others like me out there, who have a liking for this genre/medium (?) And if so, what's your favorite song? Producer? Vocaloid/vocal synth? Anything else you'd want to share, or any other aspects you like about Vocaloid? Let me hear your thoughts!
