From the update:
One area we want to focus on after 3.0 is improving our UI/UX design process. We have set up a separate UX repository to report and discuss issues related to design. We are looking to build a team of designers to discuss and create design improvements to GIMP that also respect existing user’s workflows. Denis Rangelov has taken a strong interest in this area and has already done great work in identifying, categorizing, and moving design issues from the code repository to the dedicated design section. Some design improvements have already been implemented for 3.0, and we look forward to working with community designers to give people a better experience!
It'll take some time, but it seems like improvments may be coming.

I loved that the VP of Content added that mods will still be able to protest when Reddit is literally is getting rid of major tools for mods to do an effective protest. Like, I get that Reddit is a company, and that it's a platform they own, and that they lose profit whenever a big subreddits get privated, but they keep giving mods middle finger after middle finger.

I'm afraid this answer isn't 100% correct. There are ways to find out a file's type beyond looking at an extension. For example, there are lots of file formats where all of the files start with a specific sequence of bites, known as a file signature (or as "magic bytes" or "magic numbers").
You can try the file
command line tool to check that you can find out a file's format without resorting to its extension, and you can read the tool's manpage to learn how it works.

The BBC contacted Telegram for comment about its refusal to join the child protection schemes and received a response after publication which has been included.
Where is it? I didn't find it anywhere in the article.

The information they ask you is different per country. (You can check what's your country's required information here.) The information is handled by both the European Commission and by the organizers of this petition, and is given to the member states so they verify every signature (more info here).
I see some countries asking for a lot of info, so if don't want to trust the petition's organizers with personal info or think that the body that has been chosen to confirm your countries' signatures (you can check it here) could do something nefarious with the knowledge of who signed this petition, it's better to not sign it. Otherwise, I'd say go for it.
This release already happened two weeks ago, but putting it here for those unaware of it. This is Yves' first solo release as herself and not as part of the LOONA project.
