Mikel Merino describes Arsenal training methods as unlike anything he has seen

Also, he was there 6 years ago... players change. I mean fuck, in 6 years I expect Emile and Reiss to score bangers against us. I would never describe either as an Arsenal reject.

I do keep thinking "surely they've spent too much now", and I keep being proved wrong. It's like a stock market bubble.

    Thoughts from today:

    • Partey could have done better on the first (is hanging out in the 6 but could have been screening the goal) but it's also a great strike
    • I love that we immediately went on the offensive after their goal
    • Wow, VAR did a great job with Martinelli's. I speak relatively, but still. Impeccable line drawing (only a little sarcastic).

  • 🎵 Movin' on up 🎵 Also 😢 for Ramsdale. What a good guy. Also also, our away record is somehow getting better.

If City win the league, everyone just says, "well, what are you going to do". If Arsenal win the league, that makes people sit up and pay attention. It's a legitimate win. No one will question whether we've engaged in dodgy financial manueuvers or whether a nation-state paid Havertz's dad 200k a week. They feel threatened because it'll be the first legitimate champion in years besides Liverpool.

That raises an interesting question though, why did Liverpool not receive that kind of treatment during the years they were going toe-to-toe with City?

I think we're both on the same page - I would love if there were similar federal programs for low-income people to get scooters/e-bikes just like we have for cell phones right now, since it's kind of required to get to work in most metropolitan areas and most cities don't have good transit options.

All I was saying before is that if they straight up never have more than $50 to their name, they're going to pay $7 a day as opposed to $30 a week, which would be more cost effective.

Something I think you may not be considering is availability of funds for lower-income folks - it's easy for us to say "why not just pay $70/month instead of paying $12/day", but... what if they literally don't have $70? What if they don't qualify for the payment plan because of bad/no credit? Let us not forget the story of Samuel Vimes and his 'Boots' Theory of Socio-economic Unfairness.

I'm somewhat conflicted about our next match - I want Rammers to have success but I would also like to pump 10 past Southampton to make up for the statistical anomaly v Leciester.

Not new but hopefully improved. I'm adding a Notes column to indicate things like penalties, own goals, and red cards to add some context to matches. As usual, feedback is always welcome! I have a ton of hidden columns that tot up things like xG/A under/overperformance, etc. so maybe halfway through the season I'll open that up as well. Fuck Kavanaugh. That is all.

http://clubelo.com/Ranking We were 6th in February. we could very easily be in 2nd place by the end of the season given how few points separate 2nd-5th.
