Yeah, haha. It was over the course of a year. Thanks for the kind words!

The start of the COVID pandemic left me disillusioned, starting watching Hasanabi, became a democratic socialist (who was actually open to the ideas of the USSR), regressed into anarcho-communism and thought that every AES project was evil and bad, started to become disillusioned with anarchism and read up on Lenin (State and Rev, Imperialism) and other works (eg Huey Newton).

In this mainly capitalist world, with climate crisis and covid-19 crisis I think it makes sense for the “left” (I prefer to not talk about left and right but using it here because I cannot find a better word now) to put energy in change towards a better world rather than to put energy in debates about differences
I think these debates are sort of useful, but I agree. Anarchists and Marxists must put aside their differences and build a better world together; our short-term goals are pretty much 1:1.

Marxist attempts at predicting or describing the future have been very accurate thus far. This is just a very vague answer again.
I find anarchists (more specifically ancoms) advocate for a very vague gift economy. To my knowledge, there aren't any good works on how exactly this type of economy would be run. Meanwhile, I find there are many works for a communist economy, such as Paul Cockshott's Towards a New Socialism, or [@dessalines@lemmy.ml's](https://lemmy.ml/u/dessalines) [summary](https://github.com/dessalines/essays/blob/master/paul_cockshott_cyber_communism.md) of it.

Why libera.chat over Matrix? This seems like a great opportunity to switch.

I don't know enough C to comfortably config their software, sadly. It doesn't make much sense to force the user to edit and build the raw code to change something simple, it seems like an attempt to be "newbie-free." In reality, it just hinders the software and user experience.

This is a perfect summary of my thoughts, here is another quotation from their philosophy page:
We are the home of quality software such as dwm, dmenu, st and plenty of other tools, with a focus on simplicity, clarity and frugality. Our philosophy is about keeping things simple, minimal and usable. We believe this should become the mainstream philosophy in the IT sector. Unfortunately, the tendency for complex, error-prone and slow software seems to be prevalent in the present-day software industry. We intend to prove the opposite with our software projects.
Our project focuses on advanced and experienced computer users. In contrast with the usual proprietary software world or many mainstream open source projects that focus more on average and non-technical end users, we think that experienced users are mostly ignored. This is particularly true for user interfaces, such as graphical environments on desktop computers, on mobile devices, and in so-called Web applications. We believe that the market of experienced users is growing continuously, with each user looking for more appropriate solutions for his/her work style.
Designing simple and elegant software is far more difficult than letting ad-hoc or over-ambitious features obscure the code over time. However one has to pay this price to achieve reliability and maintainability. Furthermore, minimalism results in reasonable and attainable goals. We strive to maintain minimalism and clarity to drive development to completion.
Their software is kinda neat, but I prefer the simplicity of configs more rather than editing and building C. I don't really like their elitist ideology though.

Such reactionaries in the comments. "It should be a second thought" "This is terrible to read for me." It's really not that big of a change, and it makes people feel more represented.

What is the difference between the normal Lineage and the MicroG fork? What does MicroG add?
I currently use an iPhone 8 Plus, but I'll be switching to Android soon and I of course want to degoogle it. Is GrapheneOS a good pick over something like Lineage (or anything else)? Edit: Also, is there support for mainstream apps and services? Most of them aren't privacy friendly, but I need to use them for contact with people (e.g. Discord, ability to print, gmail, etc.)
