Do you also have image upload issues sometimes? I have posted a screenshot of how it looks when it fails. It is a known bug -> https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/1489 Do you maybe know how to get around it, and still be able to upload the image?

Thank you very much for this post! It helped me a lot. I suggest caution with using browse.feddit.de though. They do not include all instances - like for example my home instance reddthat.com - you might miss a great community because of that.
EDIT: Now reddthat.com is back on the browser again - Instances could get dropped due to long response times or rate-limiting issues, so depending on the time you search you may get different results on the Community Browser.

yes ~ me too!
Could it be that Reddthat was removed from the Community Browser (browse.feddit.de)? Can you still search for Communities on Reddthat in the Browser?
From the Arch repo extra/gimp 2.10.34-2 (x86_64) using GEGL version 0.4.46 (compiled against version 0.4.44)

Tiff had the excellent idea of just hotlinking to the image directly and posting the tweet url in the body. Works perfectly for me now.
Since Twitter restricted people from looking at their website, lots of people migrate to mastodon instances. The more permissive of them with open registration (like pawoo for example) are being DDosed into the ground right now. People are having a tough time using many Lemmy communities that are essentially just lists of links to outside content, like my c/dolls and c/schooluniforms, since much of the links are dead. Since I am a data hoarder, I of course have much of the content I would like to post saved locally - but I do not want to repost some else's work without their permission and without linking to their online presence, like many imageboards unfortunately do. Do you think it would be okay for me to post the pictures directly to reddthat (by uploading them here), but still providing the link where the post was originally made? (that may or may not work depending on the mood of whoever feels like they have to restrict their social network)

I don't think this is about donations. Did you try registering again with more information about why you want to join?

Bummer ~ The link worked when I posted it, but now it does not anymore, even when I insert another Nitter instance. I chose Nitter because Twitter links do not appear to get a thumbnail and preview on Lemmy - at least last time I checked. The preview and thumbnail still work for me though luckily.
Thank you, she really is ~ Koyubita always draws very cute girls.
EDIT: outage may be because of this -> https://techcrunch.com/2023/06/30/twitter-now-requires-an-account-to-view-tweets/
I am getting these messages fairly regularly lately. No idea what causes them, they just appear randomly when I go to a different page on the site.

Maybe they have some little niche communities they do not want to just abandon.
That is why I still use reddit - when you have a really niche hobby or interest and finally discover a community of people that you can share the joy of that interest with, that feels great - you do not want to lose that community that you have longed for for so long.
I am part of some niche communities that have an activity level and a user base that is hard to beat on reddit. I am doing my part here on Lemmy and created local c/dolls and c/denpasong communities on my home instance, but of course nobody is interested here on Lemmy. I am giving Lemmy some time of course, but I am afraid that I will stay lonely with my little communities here on Lemmy unfortunately.
