Planning to propose in a few months, what should I look for in a good value engagement ring?
  • jgrim jgrim Now 100%

My wife and I picked out her ring together. She has to wear it all the time. I think she should have say in the matter. Ask your partner to help you pick one out.

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/16013932 > Linus Tech Tips (LTT) release investigation results on former accusations > > There were a series of accusations about our company last August from a former employee. Immediately following these accusations, LMG hired Roper Greyell - a large Vancouver-based law firm specializing in labor and employment law, to conduct a third-party investigation. Their website describes them as “one of the largest employment and labour law firms in Western Canada.” They work with both private and public sector employers. > > To ensure a fair investigation, LMG did not comment or publicly release any data and asked our team members to do the same. Now that the investigation is complete, we’re able to provide a summary of the findings. > > The investigation found that: > > - Claims of bullying and harassment were not substantiated. > > - Allegations that sexual harassment were ignored or not addressed were false. > > - Any concerns that were raised were investigated. Furthermore, from reviewing our history, the investigator is confident that if any other concerns had been raised, we would have investigated them. > > - There was no evidence of “abuse of power” or retaliation. The individual involved may not have agreed with our decisions or performance feedback, but our actions were for legitimate work-related purposes, and our business reasons were valid. > > - Allegations of process errors and miscommunication while onboarding this individual were partially substantiated, but the investigator found ample documentary evidence of LMG working to rectify the errors and the individual being treated generously and respectfully. When they had questions, they were responded to and addressed. > > In summary, as confirmed by the investigation, the allegations made against the team were largely unfounded, misleading, and unfair. > > With all of that said, in the spirit of ongoing improvement, the investigator shared their general recommendation that fast-growing workplaces should invest in continuing professional development. The investigator encouraged us to provide further training to our team about how to raise concerns to reinforce our existing workplace policies. > > Prior to receiving this report, LMG solicited anonymous feedback from the team in an effort to ensure there was no unreported bullying and harassment and hosted a training session which reiterated our workplace policies and reinforced our reporting structure. LMG will continue to assess ongoing continuing education for our team. > > At this time, we feel our case for a defamation suit would be very strong; however, our deepest wish is to simply put all of this behind us. We hope that will be the case, given the investigator’s clear findings that the allegations made online were misrepresentations of what actually occurred. We will continue to assess if there is persistent reputational damage or further defamation. > > This doesn’t mean our company is perfect and our journey is over. We are continuously learning and trying to do better. Thank you all for being part of our community.

It's a reputable web development language and Spring Framework is very robust. I knew it would make development very quick and easy. Also, everyone learns Java just a little so I feel like it's easy for the average person to contribute. Rust is certainly fun but Java is tried and true. The organization of the Lemmy project's code vs Sublinks is night and day. It's so easy to extend and grow Sublinks.

Easier but not what I thought was needed. We need more choice!

I tried that the but API lacked a lot of features that they were too busy to add, like proper pagination to find the latest changes, etc. I started a project like that first called socialcare.cloud but have since shut it down in favor of Sublinks.

Java isn't my preferred language. I did learn Rust to try to contribute but found the code base in less than ideal state and the process of contributing to risky. They don't always accept all PRs. I also have low faith in the success of Lemmy due to it's poor QA process and it's major lack of features.

I believe Java is the best option for this type of application, I almost did it in PHP. My goal was to attract as many people as possible to want to contribute. It's worked, I have a ton of people contributing in some way, Sublinks roadmap is clear and organized, and we have a super-motivated and driven team.

    We won't fail.

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of Sublinks, a groundbreaking Link Aggregation Social Network, joining the Fediverse. This innovative platform is designed to revolutionize how we share and discover online. Our dedicated team of volunteer contributors has worked tirelessly, utilizing technologies like Java, Go, TypeScript, and HTML to bring this vision to life. Sublinks promises a user-friendly interface and robust features that cater to diverse online communities. Stay tuned for our launch date, and get ready to experience a new era of social link sharing! Sublinks will have a fully compatible API with Lemmy so all current Lemmy apps will also work with Sublinks. In fact, discuss.online will switch to Sublinks to fully replace Lemmy once we reach our [Parity Milestone](https://github.com/orgs/sublinks/projects/1/views/6). For more information, visit [GitHub - Sublinks](https://github.com/sublinks) and [sublinks.org](https://sublinks.org). Stay tuned for more regular updates as we progress.

I bought the game on eBay and have been playing it on my newly modded Gameboy Advance. IPS screen, new case & buttons. It's very nice; I'll post a picture later. It's not explained too well on what's best to battle with. How do I know when to use an electric vs. fire without trial and error? Or is that the point? I wonder how people figured this out before the internet was so huge. I'm struggling to stay interested in the game. I couldn't quite figure out the purpose until later in the game... got to catch them all. But catching them all is just kinda boring to do. Maybe it's because I'm 37 and not 12 haha.

It's time to winterize my Miata. Makes me so sad when she goes into hibernation. I drive her daily if the weather isn't too bad and I don't need extra room. Is anyone else winterizing?

Lemmy doesn't provide any analytics. Give this post a like and/or comment if you use this instance. I'm trying to gauge usage by humans. I'll let this census run for about a week to gauge usage. Results might cause different changes to the services. I'm doing this because the cost of running this instance is higher than most other instances due to reliability and disaster recovery implementations. I'm curious if I should back down many of these costs if we're not used fully. I don't see much activity directly in this instance. I know that discuss.online wasn't listed on join-lemmy.org for about a month due to a bug with the Lemmy crawler. They just recently fixed it with their redesign. We are now listed but no longer featured. tl;dr; is this instance dying? Let me know if you're here.
