Clearly I have ascended to a higher plane of meme-istance

Yup, we should be demanding things like UBI, good gov provided housing and healthcare funded by proper taxing of the rich.

Not futily fighting against progress, if the job can be automated well and efficiently then the job shouldn't exist anymore.

And re: phones—you can see that's a camera. Also, they have a bright LED that indicates recording. These glasses do not.

Umm when was the last time you....you know what, let's do an experiment, start recording a video on your phone, flip it over and look at the back and tell me where the red recording LED is LOL

Anyways, the other commenter here cited specific cases and a supreme court ruling which tied recording in a public space as a 1st amendment issue (which I didn't know either) so now short of a new federal law passed by congress, it ain't changing. It's not my opinion, it's a fact.

Lol that has nothing to do with the other, and courts have already set precedent for recording in public spaces and have generally ruled that with current laws there's no expectation of privacy in public spaces.

The fact the camera being on someones face is almost assuredly going to be an insignificant factor in any future court case considering the sheer amount of cameras pointing at you as-is from phones (How do you know if someone is just on their phone or recording?) and security cameras and now that businesses are heavily investing in ever more cameras for their AI BS...yea, sorry to say, but nothing is going to change on that front for the foreseeable future.

I think so because of this

But experts like Brucher suggest that most voters have already made up their minds and that the election outcome is “really more about turnout” now.

Which means, Brucher said, that “Democrats really can’t afford to alienate organized labor.”

The strike couldn't happen at a more perfect time IMO, I hope every worker gets the raises they want!

Google Glass was way back in like 2013, 10 years later people just expect to have cameras everywhere in public since nearly everyone now has a good camera in their pocket that they're also using to actually take pics and videos all the time of food, places, buildings, scenery, selfies etc.

Each one of us is probably in the background of who knows many peoples pictures by now

I was on Xitter to read an update about LGRs situation, when I got one of those "suggested tweets" about Godot from some random account. I clicked on it because I thought it was a totally different situation like Godot going closed source or something.

Nope. It was an entire thread on a bunch of racist transphobes being pissy about an LGBTQ post and how Godot was "Woke" now and "Why are they being political now". "Go woke, go broke" was also mentioned unironically quite a bit and how people were going to leave in droves for Unity. Nice to see the chant was (once again) proven wrong.

It was a disgusting echo chamber, I had to wash my hands after that.

So I've mostly fixed up a 3DS picked up off eBay. The last issue is an odd one. On boot it acts as though Dpad down is being held, the odd part is it only does this for about 5 seconds after boot, then stops and acts perfectly normal the rest of the time it's been booted. It's always about 5 seconds with or without any interaction Once powered off and on it does it again. The big problem though is if I boot to gm9 it *won't* stop and I suspect it is causing a freeze issue when attempting to execute a script Anybody know what's up? I've already cleaned the pads with isopropyl

I've been on the fence on the Fold 2 ever since the aspect ratios/screen sizes were revealed. The tree is an adjoining neighbors backyard with large branches that come pretty close to my house (Though there is a sizable gap, if it comes down under the wrong wind direction...) and are actually touching another neighbors roof. If it is unhealthy, is it recoverable? I'd rather not have them cut the whole thing down (it provides a lot of shade for my backyard (well, when it's healthy that is lmao)) Should I talk with them directly (I don't really know them, at all) or let the city know?

Looking for some advice on moving 100TBs of data from the cloud to tape

With Google Workspace cracking down on storage (Been using them for unlimited storage for years now) I was lucky to get a limit of 300TBs, but now I have to actually watch what gets stored lol A good portion is uh "Linux ISOs", but the rest is very seldom (In many cases last access was years ago) accessed files that I think would be perfect for tape archival. Things like byte-to-byte drive images and old backups. I figure these would be a good candidate for tape and estimate this portion would be about 100TBs or more But I've never done tape before, so I'm looking for some purchasing advice and such. I seen from some of my research that I should target picking up an LTO8 drive as it's compatible with LTO9 for when they come down in price. And then it spiraled from there with discussions on library tape drives that are cheaper but need modifications and all sorts of things
