@Sleazy_Albanese Can't do that because of the law, but let's just say, it won't come as a big surprise to anyone following closely
Yes campaigners get baited by bad-faith provocations, while some in the no camp point directly to this online madness confusing the too-time-poor-for-politics > > > The Indigenous voice to parliament proposal is not a secret UN plot to steal Australian land. It is not a proposal for a “third chamber of parliament”. It is also not a conspiracy to stop dairy farming, impose “backdoor communism”, force people to listen to rap music or start a new religion … though I have been told all these things on social media this past fortnight. > > > > Welcome to Disinformania; Australia, you’re standing in it. > >

@AnxiousGnome I admit to being shocked at him claiming the government has reacted with glee. They just have not. Anything but.
He just has no bottom at all :(
[The education minister, Jason Clare, said opposition leader Peter Dutton had shown “all the empathy of a rock” in responding to Robodebt.](https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/live/2023/jul/09/australia-news-live-trade-security-robodebt-indigenous-voice-cost-of-living) Clare told Sky News: *The fact that Peter Dutton on the day that this came down, went straight to politics showed that this bloke doesn’t get it. It’s not about that. It’s about Jennifer [Miller]. It’s about people like her. You know, a number of people lost their live others tried to take their own life, ended up in hospital and they’re still dealing with that. That’s the real human consequence of this. And that should always be kept in mind here.* I'd say that a rock would have shown more sympathy to the victims than a potato
[Queensland mum alleges doctor wrongly told her she may have miscarried via letter](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-07-08/qld-caboolture-hospital-incorrectly-told-woman-she-miscarried/102570628) as Caboolture Hospital faces litany of complaints. Missed or wrong diagnoses, botched surgeries, and a death certificate balls up no one gives a damn about. Not the high standard we should be able to expect from a major regional hospital:(

[More than 1,000 events and performances will bring the city to life as part of this year's Brisbane Festival with one of the festival's biggest shows transforming an entire warehouse.](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-07-06/2023-brisbane-festival-riverfire-salamander-world-premiere/102558798) "Riverfire will open this year's Brisbane Festival rather than closing it, lighting up the sky over the CBD on September 2. Ms Bezzina said Riverfire would be framed by drone shows for the first time, with a massive 400 choreographed drones telling the story of Nieergoo: Spirit of the Whale." Ooh, that sounds like so much fun. Who's going?

"But if (as these overpaid Olympics planners and marketing ‘experts’ are insisting) Brisbane ‘needs’ to develop a straightforward, easily-summarised narrative about what makes us special and different from a thousand other cities around the world, [we should start by recognising that we are already Australia’s greenest major city.](https://westender.com.au/opinion-brisbane-the-city-thats-also-a-forest/) This is a key strength we could build upon as the world’s eyes turn towards us." h/t [Ash on Mastodon] ([https://bne.social/@ash](https://bne.social/@ash))
Inspired by [this earlier post](https://kbin.social/m/brisbane@aussie.zone/t/129639/Meta-Does-this-Brisbane-community-want-news-site-links-posts), where do you get your news? I refuse to read the Courier Mail, obvious the Brisbane reddit is NBG now, the Brisbane Times is a Fairfax rag and has much more southern content than Queensland, and very little truly Brisbane reporting. Facebook groups are a mess, either being media owned, run by tow truck operators, or full of self-promotion. I follow Moreton council for council info, but that only gets you so far? So where do I get the real gen?

The man’s death – after falling off the vehicle and hitting his head – is one of a growing number of e-scooter fatalities around Australia
The 25-year-old also charged with obstructing police, assaulting police and resisting a public officer after incident in Brisbane
West End used to be populated by thespians and proletariats, but locals say gentrification has priced them out.
Do you strictly interpret 'Brisbane' as the BCC area, or will you tell people you live 'in Brisbane' when you're just shy shy of Caloundra, Ipswich, or Toowoomba? I will always call Redcliffe, 'Brisbane', even though it was established long before Brisbane, but exclude Ipswich, but I don't have any good reason for either. Journos use 'near Brisbane' for up to 200km from King George Square, and 'events in Brisbane' frequently have listings for the Gold Coast. Is Brisbane just a state of mind? :)
Footage of the altercation appears to show an officer hitting the driver while he was inside a vehicle
