Some people would kill to have that much. I would, If I were them, keep going. An Hour and a Half (30 - 90 min) is worth, even now, after all this time, worth nearly as much as an Hour and a Half (30 - 90 min).

    Words of wisdom right there

  • What Final Fantasy opinion are you defending like this?
  • WintLizard WintLizard Now 100%

Final Fantasy 2 (actual 2 not the one with Cecil) is way underrated. Its got a dialogue system like Morrowind, skills that get better as you use them, a fantastic villian, and great story beats. Its also the first game to have Cid. Also also people love FF for the mix of fantasy and tech and 2 is the first game to really embrace that theme. 1 has a one off robot and the airship, but 2 really shows the empire abusing technology to retain power.

SPOILERS SPOILERS [people love 6 because the world gets messed up, but 2 did it first with the empire destroying several cities] END OF SPOILERS

And you have talking beavers and I think thats great.

I played this game so much back in the day. It was one of the few sites not blocked by my school and I thought the idea of having so many action points to use in a given day was really cool. Usually played as a zombie as it is very fun to break down a barricade and deal a bunch of damage. The community is mostly gone but it still might be worth checking out if your into login daily games!

  • Every now and again you run across a game trailer and you are instantly sold. I knew I would love this game the moment I saw it and the 6 hours I put in yesterday proved me right. I wasn't expecting all the Berserk references but they fit very well. Excited to play more today but I'm worried I'll beat the game before I'm ready to say goodbye. If you are in the mood for a turn based RPG I suggest checking it out!

I don't know Bruce Sterling, so I read a few of the articles. Is it a scifi blog? It seems more like a general art and writer sort of thing? I might have not scrolled down far enough.

  • I'm trying to find good sources for new* scifi content. Google is being extremely unhelpful at finding blogs and I know there have to be a few out there. I'm really focused on games but at this point I would be interested in any writer who covers science fiction content. Bonus points for any blog that focuses on aliens. *by new I mean new to me, I dont care if it came out yesterday or 100 years ago

Somone suggested aliensrock here recently and I have been watching his vids nonstop. I've always ignored puzzle games but seeing him showoff a game combining my two loves of scifi and fictionalized religion turned me around. The series is 100% worth a watch.

I was reading a book recently that featured a buglike alien race that had a fear of not being surrounded by others of their kind, requiring their spaceships to be bursting with crew members. It got me thinking about what their games might be like and I had a few ideas for human games they might like 1. Pokemon Im specifically thinking of the early games but later ones are pretty much the same. Everywhere you go in Pokemon their is someone to talk to. The towns have npcs all over inside and out and every route has people from forest trails to the deepest mountain caves. 2. Dynasty Warriors The crowds in these games are less friendly but if you have a fear of not being in a crowd this game will help you. Massive amounts of enemies swarm you during every battle. 3. Final Fantasy X I wanted to mention this one for a specific reason. You could answer this question with any rpg that has npcs to talk to. I would say what puts FFX as more "crowded" than the rest is the pilgramage setting. Other games with the same locations would just have monsters, but due to it being a location on a pilgrim trail you see a lot of other people passing through. Areas that could be easily shown as empty/barren instead have an npc to talk to I'm very curious, what games felt crowded to you? Do you prefer games with lots of other people around, or do you like to go where no one has gone before?

I'm surprised! I wasn't around when these games were new so I really have no idea on what was considered good at the time. I just had a random mix of games and judged them on my personal tastes.

  • Finding my uncle's old Atari is a big part of what got me into retro gaming, so I'm always happy to talk about a system that I think goes underdiscussed in retro spaces. There are definitely some games that have aged less gracefully than others, but theres also a lot of fun to be had with the system. RIVER RAID ![](https://sopuli.xyz/pictrs/image/2201ec17-d811-41ad-bfbc-9be1ad98de5c.png) First up is my #1 favorite Atari game. The systems are pretty simple, shoot obstacles and don't run out of fuel but the game keeps throwing enough in your way to give a feeling of danger. The sounds are perfect and I still play this game a few times a month. Yar's Revenge ![](https://sopuli.xyz/pictrs/image/8190bad2-4739-4e96-a98d-364b86587436.png) Break through the bad guys shell and blow them to hell. Another game with a great feeling of danger, and I love firing off the larger beam when you get one. Look up a guide if you've never played this one, it can be a bit obtuse to a first time player. Stampede ![](https://sopuli.xyz/pictrs/image/79babbde-661b-4568-897d-65bee5ae68e1.jpeg) The first Atari game I ever played, and I still play from time to time. It may look simple, but having to decide when to dodge, when to bump a horse, and when to lasso makes for a fun gameplay loop. If you enjoy Tapper you might enjoy this game. Frog Pond ![](https://sopuli.xyz/pictrs/image/5affd1c7-5f2e-4840-9546-267f88d0c120.png) This one is best with a buddy - you each compete to see who can eat the most flies. Suprisingly competitive, the alignment/aiming is skillful and there arent enough flies to go around. Human Cannonball! ![](https://sopuli.xyz/pictrs/image/4f245797-12e1-4448-a707-086bd533b184.jpeg) Yeeting this little dude across the sky is so fun whether he makes it or not. Missing this game is what inspired me to make this post. Its way more fun than the simple graphics would imply. HALL OF SHAME There are a lot of arcade ports on the Atari, some good like Missile Command, and some not so good. Which takes me to the worst game of the system Pac-Man ![](https://sopuli.xyz/pictrs/image/33a67725-2653-47b0-bf18-051cc6ff376b.jpeg) If you love this game I'm sorry but its terrible. All the dots are squares, pac is hard to control, and the sound is subpar. I think its worse than ET with or without the fan patch. I can't imagine a huge pacman fan plugging this in and being anything but disapointed. So those are my faves. What Atari games do you like/dislike? Have you played the system or never bothered? Is Atari Pacman your favorite game of all time? Let me know!
