How do you handle design when working a project that doesn’t have explicit design guidelines? I’ve been working on some personal projects, but I am continually getting held up on design. I hate looking at a blank page, not knowing where to start. I’m not a particularly creative person in art and design and I really struggle to come up with new ideas on my own. I don’t enjoy it. I’m the kind of person who buy 10 plain black t-shirts and 5 pairs of plain jeans so I never have to think about style. I’m sure there are a lot of us out there; you can make the thing but, not design it. How do you work that part of the process? I don’t want my projects to get skipped over because they’re ugly and I don’t want to copy other designs pixel for pixel.

As someone who got hit in the face with the head of a hammer that flew off the handle, I don’t roll with cheap hammers. Also, I stand far away from anyone with tools. 👍

Now that more devices are on USB-C, but the standard isn’t labeled well, it’s worth getting a good cable/charge block that will regulate power appropriately.

Adam Savage had the team that does CT Scans of various products and you really can start justify why some good charging cables cost $100.

I probably wouldn’t spend that kind of money but I’m willing to spend more on one really good one that I can use in many devices.

I feel you. I am like this with so many things.

When I started going to the gym, the only way I could get myself to go was to watch a show on my phone while working out. The catch is, I told myself I was only allowed to watch the show while I was working out. If I want to know what happens next, I had to get on a treadmill.

I fell out of the habit last summer and getting back into it has been a huge struggle.

When starting out, Josh Comeau’s free tutorials were awesome. I felt like I understood Flexbox so well after reading his article. He does a great job explaining it all.
