I like the idea of a subscription, but am also just really enjoying going in and chatting with the baristas at my local cafes.

And yeah -- I've tried a bag of one of their single origins, and was really stoked with it. But I can't find anywhere on my side of town that stocks them, which is a shame.

I had a a subscription to People's for a long time after lockdown. If I just want some coffee that just tastes like coffee, Don Wilfredo's my man.

Oh man, my wife is going to love that app. I'll pass it on.

We had negronis, old fashioneds, and some form of Christmas cocktail with a sprig of rosemary out of it?

Here's a video of the Tooch making a negroni, if you're interested.

Had a lovely stay-at-home date night with the wife last night. We tried some cocktails recommended by Stanley Tucci and watched the Hunger Games. I mean, I'm not really a cocktail person, and Hunger Games wasn't my pick. But getting a bit of a buzz and having some cuddles on the couch -- 10/10.

Oooh, they look like they'll have some stuff that's up my alley. I do notice there's a lot of chocolate in their tasting notes, which makes me think they may roast a bit darker than I prefer, but will definitely check them out if I see them around.

Particularly intrigued by the Papua New Guinea coffee -- I mostly see stuff from different parts of Africa and South America, so would intrigued to try beans grown in the Pacific.

Sitting at home, figuring out how to not get cabin fever while being boxed in by bad weather.

Kids are behind me happily playing with some Lego together. Well, mostly happily -- there's been a couple of dramas around who gets to play with certain favourite Lego pieces.

If the weather improves, we may venture into the city.

  • Interested in hearing what coffee roasters the community recommends. I'm getting into specialty coffee (single origin, roasted for filter brewing), and am keen for recommendations. But also keen to hear about whatever it is that gets you going in the morning. My favourite roaster at the moment is [Rocket Coffee](https://rocketcoffee.co.nz/). Their roster of beans is constantly shifting, so you're not necessarily going to get the same coffee every week -- but there's always something interesting and/or absolutely delicious.
