Should we allow the newly created "politics unfiltered" community to continue posting reactionary electoralist nonsense from clickbait tabloids, or should we show them the door?

Perhaps it'll help deconvert liberals attracted to it.

It has 3 posts by the creator/mod and 2 comments by other people. So on that regard, it's too early to tell how reactionary it'll get (though the Daily Mail posts don't help).

At this stage, if it bothers you too much, you can always block it, to stop it from appearing in your feed.

On the other hand, the creator's account is 14 hours old at the time I post this comment, which is suspect. They have already created 3 communities. 1 is the community in question. The other 2 seem to be dedicated in promoting socialist causes in the current US elections. There's 2 possibilities to explain this: Either this is a current Lemmygrad member/lurker who decided they wanted to set up some election communities, but decided to do it using an alt. Or this is a sockpuppet account who is setting up communities where elections will be discussed and they are positioning themselves to control the conversation and insert their own propaganda. The possibility that this is a genuine new account who decided within a few hours of joining Lemmygrad to create 3 new whole communities, is quite remote. I also find it suspicious that each community has posts from sources that would be sympathetic to the ideologies of who they think will be using those communities.

Therefore, my vote would be to reserve judgement until the creator account is investigated.

I can't be bothered to go digging for it, but there was a comment chain about USSR occupying Poland and someone said they did biological experiments on Polish people, in collaboration with Nazis, and that's how we got diseases like covid. Probably a crazy one, or I'm misunderstanding some form of sarcasm.

The comments are like an overdose of shit reactionaries say.

You've got people doing the "Russian man drunk" stereotype. You have people saying how Putin stood up to greet king charlie, and that's supposed to show UK is the dominant force in the world. You have the usual "Putin dictator" crowd. People blaming the holocaust on the Soviets signing the NAP with Nazi Germany. People blaming the Soviet Union for the pandemic. You've got some uber-Christians praising Trump and Mike Pence (who apparently delivered a speech at this thing). The circus never ends.

NAFO has turned out to be a scam just a few months ago.

Driven by hunger, a fox tried to reach some grapes hanging high on the vine but was unable to, although he leaped with all his strength. As he went away, the fox remarked 'Oh, you aren't even ripe yet! I don't need any sour grapes.' People who speak disparagingly of things that they cannot attain would do well to apply this story to themselves.

“It is a violent and racist program, where people pretending to be violent ICE officers got to hold guns and fire them in role-play situations where agents pretended to be immigrants,” said Ian Head, Open Records project manager at the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) a legal center advocating and defending human and constitutional rights.

It's as if the US government is training and arming white racist gun-toting militias. Curious.... Hmmmmm!

It's possibly a terror tactic they are taught and ordered to carry out. Before October 7th, we know that the IDF had the directive to shoot to maim Palestinian non-combatants. The idea probably being that the others would look at them as examples to avoid.

Or it could be just plain old sadism. For a period of time, the IDF had decided to implement this "humanitarian rule", where they'd call the inhabitants of any building they were targeting with a missile, and tell them to evacuate. They'd call and just say "within the next 30 minutes your apartment will be bombed", and then they'd just hang up immediately without pause. In the beginning a lot of the calls turned out to be false alarms, which made people think it was a prank. Then the warning started turning out to be real, and the people wouldn't evacuate on time. Then, when people started heeding the warning, the IDF would "accidentally" call the neighboring apartment block instead of the one being hit. Then, when people started warning the whole neighbourhood, they'd start calling too early (hours before a strike, to make people exit, then go back in after a while, then be reluctant to exit a second time), or too late (2 minutes before the missile hits, giving people very little chance to evacuate).

There's really little point in looking for rhyme or reason to what the IDF does. The Nazis were doing the same things to the Jews. Some of the attrocities commited were direct orders. Others were initiatives based upon directives. Others were just people feeling like the orders didn't go far enough, and they needed to add their own inhuman flavor. Others thought they were just being loyal, or they were fitting in with the rest of the group. And others were just sadists looking for an excuse to make people suffer.

Whenever this question comes up about the motives of genocidal maniacs, I'm reminded of this scene from Come and See (If you haven't watched this movie, just stop reading, put it from the beginning and watch it).

We like to ascribe logic to these people to make ourselves feel that at least they adhere to some sense and reason which we can fight against, but it's dubious they operate on the premises of logic. Or we like to say they've gone crazy and have become irrational and illogical, because we want to avoid admitting that they used to be normal people, like us. Either way, we should be looking at the effects of their actions first and foremost. Whatever reason the IDF has for doing what it's doing, it doesn't make it any more or less horrific, inhumane or brutally criminal.

I don't think it's fair to expect anybody to share a game they've put years of their life into developing, without copyright or permissions. In the current capitalist climate, you can expect AAA studios, scammers, patent trolls, etc to take advantage and monetize or steal ownership of the game.

There was such a case on itch.io a few years ago, where some developer stole someone's game, patented it as their own, put it on Steam, then were trying to force them to take down the game on itch.io.

You just can't risk not having copyrights, no matter your intentions.

In this day and age, I won't be looking a gift horse in the mouth. I trust the devs to keep the game free as long as they are around. They've recently put it up on Steam for a modest fee (due to them needing money for American medical expenses), and they've kept the free version around and up-to-date as well. There's also enough open access to mod the game extensively.

While freely available you couldn’t just get this game from anywhere in most countires. (legally)

    Yes, you can

There's also Aurora 4X, if anybody's into that kind of thing, which is not open-source at all (the dev is opposed to having the game mod). Also freely available anywhere and pretty great game.

It's important to note that these 2 games basically built the open-source, freely-available, community of games, by proving that free games can be as great and successful as the most expensive budget-bloated AAA titles.

The main points: * Apparently, the direct cause was Japan raising its interest rates. Apparently investors globally used to borrow yen (which had low interest rates) and then invest elsewhere, turning a quick profit on the difference between the yen's interest rate and the return of the investment. When the yen's interest rate went up, a bunch of investors started selling off their yen assets, which carried over to the US market. * The issue was exacerbated by recent reports of US economic shrinkage. * Most stocks and all major indexes have dropped significantly * Tech companies particularly affected. Especially Nvidia, Apple and Tesla. Also, US-based and Taiwan-based chip manufacturers. * Cryptos are crashing, as investors are liquidating assets * Japanese and Korean stock markets were also severely affected directly, with similar downwards spirals. * European markets started getting affected as well. I have no idea about the yen actually being the culprit to this. I'd say it's probably a contributing factor or a catalyst. But we've been seeing the US tech companies faltering for some time now, after the US initiated a trade war with China. Chinese tech companies have been making huge strides in the past year alone, while Western tech companies remained stagnant or regressed. My interpretation, at least as far as the fire-sale involving US tech companies, is that they've been losing ground to China for some time, and they've been underperforming in the stock market for a while (recall that Nvidia's stock has been dropping for the past 2 weeks or so). Whatever arbitrary event caused Wall Street investors to start dumping their stocks, the recent poor performance of American tech companies made them a prime target for unloading stocks first. In essence, the US tried to start a tech and trade war with China and ended up shooting its own foot. Meanwhile, China yet again proven to be taking the right actions. Worth noting, that there's talks that the US Federal Reserve could have taken actions to prevent this crash being so severe, but they didn't. The Fed says there's still time to act and there's nothing to worry about, without elaborating further. This is entirely my own speculation, but it's quite possible that a crash was expected and was allowed to unfold to blow up in Trump's face when elected. It just happened a few months earlier than expected. Edit: I'm not an economist, and I'm not involved in finances, so if anyone would like to correct me on anything, feel free. Also, apologies for using CNBC, but it was the only place I found that listed the events neatly, without dressing them up (and with minimal intrusion of Cookies notifications)

    https://www.israelhayom.com/2024/06/27/germanys-unprecedented-citizenship-law-requires-recognizing-israels-right-to-exist/

    >In a significant move to reshape its immigration policies, Germany is set to implement a new citizenship law on Thursday that explicitly requires applicants to acknowledge Israel's right to exist. This reform, spearheaded by Chancellor Olaf Scholz's socially liberal government, aims to streamline the naturalization process while simultaneously addressing growing concerns about antisemitism and far-right sentiment in the country. >Interior Minister Nancy Faeser emphasized the dual nature of the new law, stating, "Anyone who shares our values and makes an effort can now get a German passport more quickly and no longer has to give up part of their identity by giving up their old nationality." However, she also underscored the stringent requirements, adding, "But we have also made it just as clear: anyone who does not share our values cannot get a German passport. We have drawn a crystal-clear red line here and made the law much stricter than before." >The reform, which allows dual citizenship for first-generation migrants and reduces the waiting time for naturalization to five years, comes amid a complex political landscape. Germany has witnessed a surge in antisemitic incidents, with Felix Klein, the government commissioner for fighting antisemitism, reporting an alarming 83% increase in hate crimes against Jewish people in 2023, totaling 4,782 incidents. >To address these concerns, the interior ministry has introduced new elements to the citizenship test. "New test questions have been added on the topics of antisemitism, the right of the state of Israel to exist, and Jewish life in Germany," a ministry spokesperson confirmed. The test will also assess applicants' commitment to gender equality, democracy, and Germany's historical responsibility towards Judaism in light of its Nazi past. >However, the government's approach has not been without controversy. Its handling of criticism towards Israel's actions in Gaza has sparked a heated debate on free speech, particularly among artists and academics. The resignation of Sabine Döring, junior minister for higher education, following her ministry's exploration of defunding researchers who criticized police actions against anti-Israeli protests, highlights the delicate balance the government is trying to strike. >The new citizenship law has also become a contentious issue for young Muslims in Germany, with officials expressing concern about potential radicalization due to perceived limitations on freedom of expression. >As Germany implements these changes, it faces the challenge of maintaining its commitment to inclusivity while addressing complex geopolitical and social issues. The success of this reform will likely depend on its ability to navigate these tensions and foster a sense of shared values among its increasingly diverse population. > The Times has come **under fire from family members of Gal Abdush, the so-called “girl in the black dress”** who features as Exhibit A in Gettleman and company’s attempt to demonstrate a pattern of rape by Hamas on October 7. Not only have Abdush’s sister and brother-in-law each **denied that she was raped**, the former has accused the Times of manipulating her family into participating by **misleading them about their editorial angle**. > “**The police are having difficulty locating victims of sexual assault from the Hamas attack**, or people who witnessed such attacks, and decided to appeal to the public to encourage those who have information on the matter to come forward and give testimony. Even in the few cases in which the organization collected testimony about sexual offenses committed on October 7, it **failed to connect the acts with the victims who were harmed by them**.” Why are the Israeli police struggling to find witnesses of sexual assault which your paper confidently described on October 7 as so widespread that it demonstrated “a pattern?” > You describe a 24-year-old accountant identified as “Sapir” as “one of the Israeli police’s key witnesses.” **Yet one of Sapir’s key claims undermines the rest of her testimony**. According to the Times, “she saw three other women raped and terrorists carrying the severed heads of three more women.” Given that **no record exists of women being beheaded on October 7**, why did you include this claim from Sapir? Does such an assertion not undermine her credibility and raise doubts about the rest of her testimony? And why, at minimum, did you not mention that there is no forensic evidence to support Sapir’s claim? According to Haaretz, “investigators were unable to identify the women who, according to the testimony of [Sapir] and other eyewitnesses, were raped and murdered.” Israeli Police Superintendent Adi Edry told the paper, “**I have circumstantial evidence**, but ultimately my duty is to find evidence that supports her testimony and to find the victims’ identity. **At this stage I don’t have those specific corpses**.” Select excerpts and emphasis mine.

I found this speech to be very candid and close to a historical materialist perspective. >President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Colleagues, >Today, I want to discuss a broad range of issues with you. >The Defence Minister [Sergei Shoigu] is back from his official trip abroad, and he will brief us on its outcomes and report on the progress of the special military operation. >Of course, we will discuss the situation in the Middle East and issues related to ensuring law and order in Russia. We will discuss what needs to be done to protect the rights of our people, public safety, civil peace and interethnic accord, including in view of external threats. >As you know, at a recent meeting with religious associations’ leaders, I spoke about the attempts to use the dramatic situation in the Middle East and other regional conflicts against our country to destabilise and divide our multi-ethnic and multi-faith society. For this purpose, many different means are being used, including, as we see, lies, provocations and sophisticated techniques of psychological and information aggression. >I want to repeat that those behind the Middle East conflict and other regional conflicts will be using the destructive impact of these conflicts to sow hatred and cause clashes between people around the world. This is the real self-serving aim of such geopolitical puppeteers. >We remember how the current phase of the Middle East crisis began: it was a terrorist attack against Israeli civilians and civilians from other countries who happened to be in Israel at that time. We see that, unfortunately, instead of punishing criminals and terrorists, they started to retaliate according to the principle of collective responsibility. There is no justification for the terrible events taking place in Gaza now, where hundreds of thousands of innocent people are being killed indiscriminately, without having anywhere to flee or hide from the bombing. When you see blood-stained children, dead children, the suffering of women and old people, when you see medics killed, of course, it makes you clench your fists as tears well in your eyes. There is no other way to put it. >However, we should not, we have no right and we cannot allow ourselves to be carried away by emotions. We must clearly understand who in reality is behind the tragedy of peoples in the Middle East and in other regions around the world, who has been organising this lethal chaos and who benefits from it. In my opinion, it has already become clear to everyone, as the masterminds brazenly act in the open. >These are the current ruling elites in the United States and its satellites who are the main beneficiaries of the global instability that they use to extract their bloody rent. Their strategy is also clear. The United States as a global superpower is becoming weaker and is losing its position, and everyone sees and understands this, even judging by the trends in the world economy. The American-style world, with the hegemony of one country, is being destroyed and is receding gradually but inexorably into the past. >However, the United States is unwilling to accept this, and instead seeks to preserve and extend its dominance, its global dictatorship, which is easier to achieve amid such chaos, because the United States believes this chaos will help it contain and destabilise its rivals or, as they put it, their geopolitical opponents, among which they also rank our country, which in reality are new global growth centres and sovereign independent countries who are unwilling to kowtow and play the role of servants. >Today, Russia is not just actively participating in the formation of a new, fairer multipolar world with equal rights and opportunities for all countries and civilisations. We are not only one of the leaders of this objective historical process, but I will say more, and everyone knows this: Russia is fighting on the battlefield for our future, for the principles of a just world order, for the freedom of countries and peoples. We are fighting consistently, and our soldiers and officers, our heroes, are fighting and losing their comrades-in-arms. >I will repeat again: the ruling elites of the United States and its satellites are behind the tragedy of the Palestinians, the massacre in the Middle East in general, the conflict in Ukraine, and many other conflicts in the world – in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and so on. This has become obvious to everyone. It is they who install their military bases everywhere, who use military force on every pretext and without any pretext, who send weapons to conflict areas. They are also channelling financial resources, including to Ukraine and the Middle East, and fuelling hatred in Ukraine and the Middle East. >They are not achieving results on the battlefield, so they want to split us from within, as far as Russia is concerned, to weaken us and sow confusion. They do not want Russia to participate in solving any international or regional problems, including in the Middle East settlement. They are not satisfied at all when someone does not act or speak exactly as they are instructed. They believe only in their own exclusivity, in being allowed to do anything. >They do not need durable peace in the Holy Land; they need constant chaos in the Middle East. Consequently, they are trying hard to discredit countries that are insisting on an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, on ending the bloodshed, and that are ready to make a real contribution to resolving the crisis, rather than parasitising on it. They are even attacking, ostracising and trying to discredit the UN and the clear position of the global community. >I would like to note that, unlike the West, our approaches towards the situation in the Middle East have always lacked mercenary interests, intrigues and double standards. We have stated and continue to openly state our position, which does not change every year. The key to resolving the conflict lies in establishing a sovereign and independent Palestinian state, a full-fledged Palestinian state. We have repeatedly said this openly and honestly during our contacts with the Palestinian and Israeli leaders. >I repeat, the truth is that the stronger Russia becomes and the more consolidated Russian society is, the more effectively will we be able to uphold our own national interests, as well as the interests of the nations that are victimised by the neo-colonial Western policy. >I would like to say once again that we must realise where the root of evil lies. We must know where the spider that is trying to entangle the entire planet and the whole world in its cobweb is. It wants to ensure our strategic defeat on the battlefield, and it is using people on the territory of contemporary Ukraine who have been brainwashed by it for decades. I would like to stress once again that, while fighting this enemy in the course of the special military operation, we are boosting the positions of all those who are struggling for their independence and sovereignty. >The events in Makhachkala last night were instigated also through social networks, not least from Ukraine, by agents of Western intelligences services. I would like to ask myself in this connection: is it possible to help Palestine by trying to attack the Tat people and their families? Tats, by the way, are the titular nation in Daghestan. The only way to help Palestine is to fight those who are behind this tragedy. We, Russia, are fighting them in a special military operation, fighting them for ourselves and for those who seek real, true freedom. >By the way, I never cease to be amazed by the Kiev regime and its overseas masters. We know that Bandera and other henchmen of Hitler have already been put on a pedestal of honour, we know and see how the Ukrainian leadership applauds the Nazis of the Second World War, who were guilty of the Holocaust victims, who personally took part in these crimes, and today, under the guidance of their Western patrons, are trying to instigate pogroms in Russia. By the way, I am not sure whether all the leading circles in the same States are aware of this. It would not be a bad idea for those who care so much about the citizens of Israel to investigate what their security services are doing in Ukraine, whether they are trying to instigate pogroms in Russia. Scum, that’s all. There is no other way to put it. >But those who really stand up for truth and justice, who fight against evil and oppression, against racism and neo-Nazism, which the West encourages, are now fighting at the front – near Donetsk, Avdeyevka, on the Dnieper. I repeat: these are our soldiers and officers. And the choice of a real man, a true warrior, is to take up arms and stand in line with his brothers, to be there where the fate of Russia and, indeed, of the whole world, including the future of the Palestinian people, is being decided. >I want to draw the attention of the heads of all regions, heads of law enforcement agencies and special services to the need for firm, timely and clear action to protect Russia’s constitutional order, the rights and freedoms of our citizens, inter-ethnic and inter-faith accord. >Let us move on to a discussion of all the proposed topics.

Good evening to all. I have a serious problem: a big fire has been burning the area of Saronida, which makes the air very stifling for the guests here. The guests have left. What would be the correct thing to do in this situation? Return of money? Is it really my fault or is the guest just unlucky, since I'm not responsible for forest fires occuring in the surrounding area. I'd like your opinion and your help 🙏
