I see, thanks for the explanation and reply. I don't think there's an easy/simple way around based on the current knowledge. I can't say I am a fan of Threads dominating the feed. But at the same time, I don't think we should become an island unto ourselves to avoid them. (IE doomsday scenario)

But thanks again for the reply and for keeping us informed about what's happening. Keep up the great work!

I read this post and have been pondering this question for a good chunk of the day. I had a thought that may or may not have any impact. I hope I can convey this correctly.

Say Lemme.ee defederates fromThreads. But we are federated to Lemmy.world. Because we are federated with them, and they are federated with Threads, is there going to be some...Threads posts leaking though to our all. Or does the all feed only extend one..."hop"?

My brain keeps going to something akin to six degrees of Kevin Bacon. I know it's not the same, but wasn't sure how the fediverse handles the "all feed". One hop.. two hop....etc.

Thanks for any insights from people who actually know how this works.

I am too. I downloaded an app (Jerboa) made an account, and then just started searching for some of the interest subreddits I used and subscribed to them. Found an aww, tech, movie and tv shows, reddit migration, gunpla, and others so I can customize my "front page".

I took the learn by doing approach. I didn't really look at any tutorials or how to guides, just started with the app messed around. Did some searches for hobbies and interest. Linked an account and then started subscribing. I think I got the jist, but still can't see the full scope and picture of how it works but not bad for day 1 I think. Good luck on your journey!!

I've been using Jerboa on Android. As far as I know it's been working great. I've gotten my scroll pages to all, local or subscriptions. So I can toggle between them to see what's happening on the different feeds.

Coming from bacon reader, I find navigating Jerboa pretty easy and intuitive for the most part. Still confused on some of the deeper things like joining communities but I think I'm doing it right. I have it set so I can see the different groups I've joined or I can see the "wider world" of either my instance lemme.ee (I think).
I'm trying to not be a reddit lurker and comment more since I'm not fighting 8000 comments that already contained what I wanted to say lol.

It was baconreader for me on Android. It was perfect. I even tried looking at old.reddit.com and that was a nightmare compared to baconreader. Can't wait to see how Lemmy evolves and grows.

I'm also using Jerboa, and so far it's pretty great. I haven't figured out everything yet, but so far joined a few communities and pending on some of the bigger ones. If you're using iOS I've heard that wefwef was modeled or based on Apollo, so that might be something to look into since that one was a popular reddit app.

Anywho, looking forward to figuring this out, already joined an aww..subreddit..sublemmy... instance...not sure on the terms yet, but looking forward to watching this one, that one, and the other communities grow!
