How the hell do they expect to get anything done if they think even democracy is authoritarian.

It's about Jesus and whether or not he would be a socialist today. Some highlights are "Jesus was tortured and executed by the state. So to avoid that happening again, we should…vote for the pro-statist left? Huh? I guess you’ve never heard of China, Cuba, the Soviet Union, or any of those other countries that have existed on the planet with you." and "This confusion of totalitarianism belief systems can partially be blamed on young adult books. There’s some sad affliction of my generation that kids are continuing to pick them up later and later—say, into their twenties, embarrassingly enough—so that Jennifer Lawrence’s tits on a poster can keep kids from reading Orwell and Huxley for years. To paraphrase Chuck Palahniuk, “pop science as a coping mechanism” has eclipsed any actual historical knowledge as a pastime for young people. The Giver and The Hunger Games are the defining political works of these kids’ lives. These kids don’t have a Marxist phase until much later in life than our parents did, and it takes them longer to get past it."

I think this would be useful to combat the vote blue narrative as it shows both parties do horrible things. If the list could include not only just imperialism but things they did domestically that would be great. For example, things like Reagan's trickle-down economics.

So let's say I wanted to become a painter in the USSR how would I achieve that. I know that you could go to school for say engineering and then get assigned a job when you got out of school so did it work the same way for artistic endeavors? Or would you first get assigned a job and then in your free time pursue the artistic endeavor. Basically, were you an artist first, or where you say a steelworker who was an artist second until you got enough of a base to pursue being an artist full time?

Thank you for the recommendations I added them to my reading list. I've come to that same conclusion based on my limited research on the subject. Most of the stuff they did makes no sense when to me if their goal was communism. Such as just outright abolishing money did they really expect that to work without some form of transitionary state. Same with moving out of the cities.

To me, it is a very propagandized view of the country and is devoid of many nuances. For example, He points out many things that are common in third world countries and passes them off as a thing that only happens under socialism when I've seen similar things in other third world countries. I find it interesting though because it is a lot of footage from within the DPRK which I haven't seen before. Honestly, I would say skim through it so you don't lose too much time but it's interesting regardless.

Okay, thank you for the information. Could you shed some light on the killing fields and other atrocities committed by the Khmer rouge? Are they exaggerated by western media or is it for the most part true. I've seen a good amount of leftists argue about if this state should be supported and am trying to get a more in-depth view.

Do you have a source for the CIA backing Pol Pot that sounds like an interesting read? And that clears up a good bit regarding chinas support. So they basically supported them as a way to combat the USSR influence in the region after the Sino-Soviet split. Is that about right?

Do you have anything I can read from a Marxist source to get a better understanding of Cambodia at the time? It seems like a very complicated situation especially given chinas support for them and I want to learn more.

  • I've seen some communists support him and I cant understand why. Was he a communist? I really know next to nothing about him other than the killing fields(overview) and that Vietnam invaded them. That second part makes me doubt he was a communist but I want to know more and was wondering if anyone could give me some reading recommendations on the subject or just give me an overview that would be much appreciated.

I believe casualty refers to anyone injured enough in combat to not be sent back effectively killing them. While death refers to well yk being unalived. However, I could be wrong.

I like that one and red flood but the other ones I don't really touch. I've heard some good things about The New Order and kinda want to do a Soviet Union restoration run but haven't got around to it.

This movie is about a play that was produced in 1937 that goes by the same name. The play is about a labor movement in a town called Steeltown USA. It and the movie are heavily pro-union, pro socialism, and heavily anti-fascism(the movie at least I haven't seen the play). The movie goes over the production and censorship(along with the broader censorship of socialism in America) of the play, The participation of the American bourgeoisie with Mussolini pre-world war 2, and Diego Riveras Mural's "Man at a Crossroads" along with his dealings with the Rockefellers. Although they take liberties with the timing(Man at a Crossroads was destroyed in 1934, not 1937). It is for the most part historically faithful although I'm no expert in this so take it with a grain of salt. Personally, I really liked it. I thought the story it was telling was interesting and it told that story well. I really liked Bill Murray's character and his transition back into a communist. Plus [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rggCCyDB8V8) scene where his puppet sings the internationale was really entertaining and heartwarming. I also enjoyed Ruben Blades as Diego Rivera and how it told the story of his creation of his mural Man at the Crossroads. It was really enjoyable watching Rockefeller go from a free speech advocate to a man who wanted to destroy things that threatened his wealth. Overall I think it was a really good movie and I suggest giving it a watch if you are interested in how socialism and the labor movement were growing in the 1930s along with the government's reaction to it. You can watch the full movie for free [here ](https://vimeo.com/118443190). Although the quality is bad. You can also rent it from amazon prime video(ew) or Vudu and it comes in HD. If you watch it let me know what you guys think.

Idk I really like this sovietwave song I found it back when I was watching star trek a lot and just chilling with my friends before my senior year of HS so it was really simple and it brings back a lot of good memories. Now I listen to it to unwind whenever I need to. I found it on this collection of soviet wave songs

So I used to be really into Alan Watts, Terrence Mckenna, and Taoism/zen type of stuff back when I was 15. I was wondering if anyone has tried to combine that sort of stuff with Marxism and Communism? I know Marxism is usually not focused on religion but I have met a good deal of Marxist who are Buddhist.

And and and someone on Twitter called me a Russian bot for adding nuance to the conversation. I'm not a Russian bot I swear! The worst part about all this is that my feeling. Their getting hurt by facts! And the facts just don't care! I'm sobbing rn while typing this. Im gonna go fight for uwukraine to prove my pro western mindset So in conclusion, I think we should become NATO shills to appease the libs!!!!! /s I just needed a little bit of a shitpost while I'm procrastinating my work. inspired by the [linked video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9nm97xuII0)

So for school I have to write an essay about the WTO. They asking or things like what does it do, what are some common criticisms, does it impact state soverignty, and if it is beneficial. Now this is an area where I’m lacking in terms of my criticism and was wondering if anyone had any good explanations of their own criticism or good reading/video recommendations?
