Exactly, Kyle MacLachlan was perfect for the role of Agent Cooper but I will never get was Lynch was thinking when casting him as Paul Atreides.

I think these are stylistically too captured by the 70s fantasy genre
Valid opinion, I think the fantasy touch fits well, considering how influenced by classic drama Dune is but that is of course a question of personal taste.
If you look at Moebius other work The Metabarons it’s far more futuristic and inventive.
I think there is a misunderstanding. The Metabarons series where made by Jodo as a director/writer and several graphic artists realizing his vision, Moebius not being one of them. The only Metabaron drawn by Moebius is Nameless in The Incal series, which was also directed by Jodo.
As you might have guessed, the unnamed character in the middle is Thufir Hawatt. Open in new tab for bigger image. ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FXAHxtjr.png)

little old guy who’s paradoxically, extremely dangerous
Oh I see, you mean like the little chinese grandpa who turns out to be a grand master of kung fu when he is getting attacked.
And I kind of like it, frankly! You know, as opposed to the more common ‘look at me, I’m muscular and badass-looking’ character, which is kinda what Marvel/DC have flogged to death over many decades.
Absolutely, it´s a reason why John Difool is my favorite sci-fi hero!
So an artist might create half-a-dozen odd character designs to show the production-designer / director, letting the boss pick and choose elements they like best to create the final physical version of that production’s character. All very SOP and common in these cases. So you might even find a concept drawing in which Duncan is the shrimp, and Gurney, the big, imposing guy.
Makes perfect sense to do several different drafts to select the best one in the end, I did not think of that practice.

I’d love to have seen Jodo’s Dune
Me too! I don´t care that he would have changed a lot of things from the books, as long as there would have been no pugs and heart plugs!

*Since the thread got upvotes by the majority but only comments from a few party poopers who were obviously not appreciating me sharing this great find with you all, I decided to lock it. I just don´t have the nerve for that kind of shit today.* Hej hej, fellow comic art enthusiasts! I am quite excited to show to you what I just found. While searching for a good digital copy of Jodorowsky´s legendary Dune script, I stumbled upon this incredible analysis of the script, made by the fine people of www.duneinfo.com. It seems to contain the full or at least a big part of the script (in varying image quality) and does a great job at summarizing Jodo´s version of the story en détail. The article presents an insight into this mystical project, which I and probably many of you, have never had before, enjoy! www.duneinfo.com/unseen/jodorowskys-dune-uncovered I will keep posting selected images from the script, in the future. Here´s an example: ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FmmfJG1O.jpeg)

Sorry no, you can´t claim some made up bullshit and then just nonchalantly move the goalposts to another planet when you get called out for it. You lied about pro-genocide propaganda being posted here and you should apologize to !johnny_enzyme@lemm.ee for that.
Nice use of historical design elements imo, they also both look like hippies, lol. I wonder why he made Gurney so short though. As far as I remember he was never called short in the books, right?

Agreed, we allowed this to go too far and for too long. I promise faster bans in the future, sorry for any inconvenience caused by our hesitation.

You are so hung up on seeing the world in black and white that all you got left is toxic and misanthropic hate speech. A well differentiated discussion about a topic as complex as the Israel-Palestine conflict is obviously not possible with you.

I could never forget Veggieman. He left a permanent impression on me as a child. However, I did not know Winter and find him even more charismatic!

I love about this one is/are the background color gradients. The blues, greys, yellows and browns. Really cool!
Yes, I noticed that too in many of his works. The color gradients of the horizon, especially the sky often fading from blue into orange/pink, are indeed impressive. When I compare those gradients to an actual early sunset I find them to be very close to a perfect depiction.

First you claim to be against genocide. Then you write:
I will be watching with bated breath the day your society finally, rightfully falls.
What kind of mental gymnastics is that supposed to be? Obviously you are indeed in favor of genocide, as long as only Jewish people are the victims of it. Or what exactly do you think would happen to its Jewish citizens, if Israel were to “fall”, as you trivialize it?

Simply nothing of what you (and other hexbears) claim has happened here. You guys seem to instantly turn off your brains and jump to false conclusions once you see anything related to Jewish people living their lives. The posted comic in fact depicts an argument between two Jewish neighbors, one from Europe, one from North Africa. Nothing in it is dehumanizing Palestinians or even touching the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Read the material from the first post again, this time slowly and carefully and you might still get it.

I am honestly confused, are there any Palestinian characters in the posted pages? The two guys having an argument are obviously both Jewish ...
Edit: Did you read all three pages?
You never know what will happen on a first date -_-

The beautiful artistic style of the show is heavily inspired by the art of Moebius, Hayao Miyazaki, Philippe Druillet and Alexandro Jodorowsky and also references such beloved classics as AKIRA, ALIEN and many more. Please watch it on Netflix if you can, it will increase the chance of a second season of this masterpiece getting produced. The ones of you who have already watched it, what do you think?
I had almost forgotten about this gem, after reading it decades ago as a kid. In hindsight, *Chninkel* had a strong impact on my developing love for comics, quite comparable to *The Incal* and *AKIRA*. While the drawings are not as perfect as the work of the grandmasters Moebius and Otomo, the narrative of *Chninkel* hits even harder imo. Twelve year old me was especially triggered by the oppression and injustice of the scenario and I still remember being stunned by the hard struggle the little protagonist has to endure. NEVER GIVE UP LITTLE CHNINKEL!
