Just got my AMD 13 put together, first start time it is taking awhile to say the least and is spitting out a lot of heat, is this normal for these devices like other AMD Zen products? Could something be wrong? I have a WD Black SN850x and a Crucial 16GBx2 5600mhz memory kit

No, if you were doing some 3D application like video games or CAD to a lesser extent, it would put load on the graphics side, but the computer wouldn't 'slow down'. Real note on games, this is a really high resolution, I'd avoid all but the lightest games at this native resolution

It is compatible, there is a validated list for memory, but storage is pretty universal. An actual list of all compatible parts would be pretty users friendly, the specific drive you have show I've seen in a couple reviews, but Western Digital Black SN850x and SN770 drives are more common in reviews and their own configuration if it means anything to you, I'm a very big fan of the SM850(x) drives, I own and use several on a regular basis and they have served me well for awhile

It's due to overtake a lot of conventional fan technology, eventually, increasing the wattage consumption vs dissipation as far as I know scales with size, but the dedicated control board will probably be integrated into the units themselves for drop in legacy control, or they will get more sophisticated and replace existing fan controls. It's a real neat technology, but it will take awhile for framework themselves to implement into their products, but their open approach will be a huge asset for off label upgrades

I thought about getting a 4 tb SN850x, I have one along with a 2 tb in my desktop, but 4 in a laptop is a lot to manage at least for me, also that would require a more sizable investment to back up the entire thing when it is full which is more difficult for physically smaller and more durable drives. I also opted out from going the full 64gb of memory as at that point that may impact battery life, nor do I really have a use for that much as I'd be working with raw image files and maybe some light gaming with emulators at the most
