Lukashenko encourages the study of Marxism

His country managed to minimize the damage the fall of the Soviet Union has done. It should be no surprise that there is at least somewhat of a positive view towards ML.

  • Thoughts on leaving one’s home country?
  • DankZedong DankZedong Now 100%

I left my home country due to housing shortage over there. Wasn't even invited to look at a house in over two years of searching. Oftentimes I was placed somewhere near spot 3000 in a raffle. Moved abroad and found a house within two months of looking.

Now, I did move to another Western country so I guess it had less of an impact than me moving to let's say Eastern Europe.

Anyway, I actually moved towards a country with more revolutionary potential. I've found a marxist party to be a member of, which my home country is lacking.

I don't know if I would call it some form of colonialism per se. I guess it depends on what you offer. If you move somewhere and take away valuable resources and opportunities from local people maybe it is. I personally moved here without a degree and even without a prospect of a job. Eventually I managed to work myself up towards a good job but I don't think it was due to some sort of white privilege compared to locals here.

Injured myself while marathon training so I think the marathon is off for now. Got some issues with my knee. It's better now but it took 2+ weeks out of my schedule and I don't think I can or want to compensate it.

Decided to up the strength training and I joined the gym again after more than a year of working out at home. Took me five minutes to realize that working out at the gym can suck ass lol. The gym I was at has 1 lat pull down machine for the entire gym. They have 700 bikes though so I guess you can do that. Might need to look for another location.

Well that's Champions League. My team dominated for 84 minutes against Sporting only to draw. Got battered in Turin too.

Teams from smaller leagues just have a hard time against the big teams. Which is understandable as playing matches against St Johnstone or PEC Zwolle is different from BVB or Juventus.

It's fall again so I can stop having a personality and start wearing cool outfits. I actually like fall with the rain and the wind and the greyness though I want to retreat into the woods in the southern part of the country for a while, to sort out things. Sadly that's not a possibility right now.

  • Belgium is working towards new laws regarding sex work, making the workers eligeble for pensions, healthcare plans, contracts and overall more legal status. This was done in corporation with sex workers, orgs surrounding sex work and my place of work, the Union. Now, I worked with former sex workers and human trafficking victims myself and I am aware of their struggles. I am not going to outright deny their right to fight for improvement. What bugs me is the normalization of an industry that is heavily, and I mean very heavily, infested with human rights abuses. For every one empowered sexworker there are a thousand human trafficking victims. Giving them a pension is not helping in the slightest. And then there is the whole thing of tying things like unemployment benefits to you wanting to look for work. Here in Belgium your benefits can be cut as soon as you refuse a job that is offered to you through government instances. What if we further legitimize sex work and you refuse a sex worker position? There have been caes already of the instances offering unemployed actresses porn jobs, so why not offer them sex workers contracts? And why not cut their benefits of they refuse a fitting job? Right? And everyone is so happy about it. As if the whole industry is one collective of happy people doing a fun job instead of the horror it is. Sorry for ranting but fuck me what a mess

And it would be cool if people from here will attend too! We've got people like Vijay Prashad, Irvin Jim, Jeremy Corbyn, Dr. Hassan Abu Sittah, Aleida Guevara and many more coming over. There's food, music, workshops, cinema, sports, everything happening on September 7 and 8. You can buy tickets here: www.manifiesta.be Oh and Oppo and I will be there of course. Let me know in the DM's if you wanna meet up there. I promise I'm not a total weirdo.

On september 7 and 8 our party will host our annual festival [Manifiesta](https://manifiesta.be/nl/line-up) in which socialist activists from all over the world will come together to debate, learn, party, eat, drink and much more. We've got European speakers like Corbyn, we've got Palestinian speakers like Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah, we've got Sudanese activists, Cuban speakers, South African speakers like Irvin Jim, US speakers like Shawn Fain, we've got music, we've got food from Global South countries as well as AES (which is absolutely amazing, trust me). There will be a book fair, there will be workshops on organizing, there will be talks on various topics like feminism, trans rights, healthcare, climate change, public transport, Palestine, etc. It is always a fun event and you will meet many different comrades from all over the world, all in harmony on a beautiful former horse race track at the beach. Public transport can be free within Belgium, so that could also shorten travel time from abroad. Oh, and I will be there, as well as [@Oppo@lemmygrad.ml](https://lemmygrad.ml/u/Oppo)
