Voyager
Every now and then I want to download some video I see in Lemmy to share with my friends but I click in download video but it seems to not work. Is it possible to download videos using Voyager?
Sorry if this is the wrong place but I haven’t been able to find an answer. If you are browsing (all, local…) and go to your subscribed communities, is there a way to resume where you were or is it always a refresh? Edit: iOS mobile to be specificish
The app hardly ever keeps my place in the feed when I exit it and come back to it after a while, and then I'd go hunting for where I was. My phone has 16GB of RAM, so that's plenty.
Basically, when the app crashes while commenting, it recovers the text you had written out.. but then dumps you back to the main feed with that just in your clipboard, waiting for you to comment on the next post and go “oh yeah, crap” because you can’t find the post and go back to browsing. When hide read posts is functioning as intended (which it hasn’t been for a while and may be related to version..? Idk how it works, and that’s not the point of this anyway), you shouldn’t even be able to find the post you would have replied to, and unless it’s from a community you follow, you’ll never find it again. Maybe this is too much to ask; I’m not a programmer so I don’t know what I’m asking, but it would be super great when the app crashes to not only preserve the text, but maybe provide a link back to the post it was being made under (not necessarily the exact comment, but the parent post would help a ton). I’ve just sort of given up on long comments I spent a lot of time formatting because the app crashed and I couldn’t find the post I was replying to. And that’s really frustrating.
As it stands, If I want to view a post in the browser, I can use the ‘Copy’ option which gives me the comment or post’s URL and have to manually launch the browser, paste, and go. So not the end of the world or anything, but a little annoying on the rare occasions I want to use it.
For some communities, I cannot see some recent posts. I find them in Local or All tab but when I click on the community, it disappears. Sometimes, I miss weeks of posts! I removed all blocked communities and instances just in case. Is this a known issue? Edit: I also checked the Mark read/Hide setting. Everything was unchecked and I tried disabling hiding in communities with no success. Edit 2: Fixed! There is setting on the web interface to "Show read posts", I left it unchecked. ::: spoiler Pictures Here is an example :    :::
Do I get a special avatar, emoji, flair, or something unique to each tip?
Most of the time I only use Lemmy thru this app, so I desperately need the ability to read, process reports and ban users in-app. I have missed some critical reports for days because of lack of the feature.
Hello. I'm having a problem where i get this error everywhere when using LemmyNSFW. Any idea why this is and how to fix it?
Hide read posts is not working. I’ve setup like on the picture, posts are not hidden after refresh nor after app restart. I’ve disabled hiding of posts in Lemmy UI
With the release of iOS 18, I was curious if there was any progress on optimizing the app icon for the various icon mode, specifically dark and tinted, as right now, when I use either one, it sticks out like the sore thumb. It either looks out of place, or it just has a color overlay and it really doesn’t look very good
I'm having trouble opening the post-comments on image- and link-posts with single-line headlines. The clickable area for the headline is so small that I keep opening the community or the link/image by mistake. Trying to open the post-comments via the comment icon below the link/image often leads to an involuntary downvote because of the even smaller clickable area around the comment icon. I would suggest to add a swipe action that can be configured to open the post-comments. That way, the layout can stay as is and people with clumsy thumbs like me have an alternative option to open post-comments. Thanks for an otherwise perfect app. This is literally the only issue I have with it. Cheers!

Hi there. I love this app to bits, but recently have stumbled upon a weird issue I cannot seem to resolve. Normally I use the Swift keyboard app from Microsoft but for whatever reason, only when writing a comment to someone, it doesn't work as expected. For instance I cannot use backspace to correct my writing and autocorrect gets disabled. Ive tried to switch to googles keyboard app and the same thing happens there. This strictly only happens in comments as far as I've noticed, and not when writing this. Also only an issue here in Voyager app, nowhere else. Has anyone stumbled upon this issue? Is it known? Once awhile the post size setting kept resetting to large. I’m going to guess that every time the app updates, but can’t confirm that. Not a big deal, but quite annoying. I prefer to have compact post size.
Is it possible to improve the alt/accessibility text editor in the image post composer? I don’t know if the Lemmy spec supports it, but a multiline text editor would be great if so. On that note, is it possible to preview the alt/accessibility text? I also don’t see where to view it on a live post. Thanks!
Pretty much the title. Some of us want to reduce the amount of time we spend browsing NSFW communities, but as it stands it's too easy to just turn the slider off. I'm requesting an improvement in the options where you can make the slider permanently locked upon user request (similar to what Infinity for Reddit app has done). Thanks.
Hi folks! First of all, huge appreciation for this insane lemmy client. I‘ve been using it for two years roughly and I‘m over the moon about it. I want this app to be even more wonderful so I wanted to share my idea for a more integrated search: Currently, when you‘re on a small instance like mine, you dont see every community on every server you are connected to due to the way AP works. For that reason, I would love to see **all** communities and be able to subscribe to them by using lemmyverse.net as a search option. **Steps to reproduce** 1. make new instance 2. add user 3. connect with voyager 4. type anything in the search bar 5. find nothing Btw I know we already have the „discover“ option but it works different from what I‘m suggesting and is less intuitive and more cluttered than my approach imo. **Suggested behavior** 1. You hit search and get „lemmyverse.net“ as a search option 2. click it 3. see all communities with the content you searched for 4. hit subscribe 5. get content I hope this makes sense to you as I think this will boost the discoverability of lemmy by a huge margin! This would also probably be a unique feature, setting voyager even more apart from other clients (and of course be a great role model for them to follow). Thanks for reading and have a good one.
It would be nice if it could be disabled, or set to a longer swipe like with in the main one. I can't even remember which community I last unsubbed from accident, just because a scroll was too diagonal for the app.

Even just an option to set the primary app theme color based on Material You would be nice, but the option to use surface colors from Material You would be nice as well. Display names (e.g. my display name "Juniper (she/her) 🫐") don't seem to be supported, leaving just usernames. It would be nice if display names were supported. Also, profile pictures would be nice, but I recognize that has been requested separately already.
Currently in filters and blocks, all the “Add instance/community/user” are at the bottom of the list. I have a large filter list requiring a lot of scrolling to reach the bottom. Would it be possible to have this at the top instead? Alternatively, when selecting a community to block (vis the `…` menu) is there a way to block the whole instance that community is hosted on? Primary use to block instances that are non-english.
I just wanna browse all without getting spammed with posts. It's stupid that Lemmy doesn't have an NSFL tag after decade of people complaining that reddit doesn't have one. but I'll settle for this.

Often when I tap on the title of a post, rather than opening the post, it takes me to OP's profile. I think maybe there might be an overlay between the title of a post and the tap area for the OP's handle, or I'm fat-fingering it. Either way, it's a little frustrating. I would like to disable the ability to go to someone's profile directly from my feed so that it takes me to the post whenever I tap anywhere in the title/author/community area. If I would like to go to OP's profile or the community, I could do so from inside the post. Sync has this option as a setting as shown in this screenshot :  I can't find it in Voyager. Is there a way to set this up in Voyager?
I’ve been having an intermittent issue (usually every day or two) where my default view keeps getting reverted to “Large” instead of “Compact”. I haven’t been able to figure out any particular pattern to it thus far, but wanted to see if anyone has had similar issues. It typically happens when opening the app for the first time in a while, but has actually happened two or three times today. Is there maybe a gesture I’m accidentally triggering when I close the app?
The last three options are not working for me. Sometimes I don't save some useful posts thinking I can find them later in the specific community but then I realized none of the options are respected, posts keep getting hidden. I have disabled auto-hide but it still hides posts on refresh. I'm on android 14. Edit: I ticked "Show read posts" in my lemmy account settings on a browser and now everything works.

Old Reddit with Reddit Enhancement Suite used to allow the user to see the number of upvotes and downvotes on a post that comprised the score. It was nice to know if a post with a score of -10 was 3 upvotes and 13 downvotes or 103 upvotes with 113 downvotes.
Some communities, like fark, let you annotate users that you interact with so that when you interact with them in the future have an idea about the previous context with them. I think that would be a good feature for lemmy, able to add a note/nick name that displays any time you see a comment or post by that user
Since about three days ago, I keep seeing read posts on my feeds (local, all, etc) I have disabled the switch to show read posts. I have also tapped the button that hides read posts. The posts appear as read, with a different font color in their title. But they are just not hidden. I have checked the GitHub issue tracker and this community and have found no other person raising this issue. Therefore I assume I must be doing something wrong. But what? I have not touched my settings basically since I installed voyager. Did a recent update break the “hide read posts” behavior?
When viewing a conversation in the latest iOS app, you are automatically returned to the current end of it every several seconds, which makes reading old posts difficult. As if it’s refreshing or checking for new messages and forgetting where you were in conversation. I don’t remember this being a problem in the past. Also, a graphical bug. When composing a long message the text can overlap the send button. The button still works, but it’s hard to see what you’re typing. Add: I just checked, both of these bugs occur on the web version of Voyager as well.
Just wondering if it would be possible to (have an option to) show who posted each post in the All or Local views.
