Is there an official statement on how SimpleX is pronounced? Is it "simple ecks"? Is it just the English word, "simplex"? Is it something else? If there is no official statement, how do the developers say it?
Downloaded the release 6.0.0-beta1 pre-release version of AppImage to my Qubes-Whonix. Then, created an encrypted archive (18 MB) of my android simplex using simplex app, and got my download link for migration to the desktop app. On the desktop appimage, I pasted this link, and it has been "DOWNLOADING LINK DETAILS" for 15 minutes now. Is this feature working yet, or am I waiting in vain?
Unfortunately simplex uses way too much battery on my unisoc tablet. It is also still quite high on an older qualcomm phone. Is there room for improvement with updates or is this the limitation of lower end hardware?

Hello, is the network connection to the SimpleX network made same way as in [Session](https://getsession.org) messenger *(single point of failure in the form of several seed/bootstrap nodes "hardocded" in the client software, the nodes which hostnames/IPs can be blocked on ISP/government firewalls)* ? Hi everyone. I'm curious to understand what could happened to simpleX if the new "security" plan in EU gets voted? Because I'm not versed enough with the political and legal wording in thoses papers I've got a hard time to actually understand. - Will simpleX be obligated to comply? - Will simpleX retire from EU? - Would It be illegal to use simpleX if the bill passes? - Could we still use simpleX with a proxy/VPN from a country outside of EU? - ... I'm genuinely concerned about what I'm reading here and there on lemmy... I hope someone could give me some interesting point of view. Thanks.

Hi, I've just tested SimpleX. Great piece of software, all the options are really well thought ... Sadly it's not P2P (all the messages pass by servers... ) is there a way to make-it P2P ? Thanks.
Does anyone know why every release is not available through F-Droid? For example F-Droid has version 5.5.2 and the latest stable is 5.5.5. In the buildlog it looks like F-Droid gets the soirce code for every release. It assume it is not successfully compiled in order for it to never end up being released.

As far as I understand it, the relay servers only hold the messages until they are delivered, but what happens if they can never get delivered? Does the server just endlessly accumulate these messages in limbo, and never purge them, or are they on a timer? Even if they are on a timer, if a group chat with one abandoned user has a large enough volume of messages, they could theoretically overwhelm the server's storage. --- ## Update I have received an official response on this from the SimpleX Chat team: > the servers hold the messages for 21 days if they are not received

like, if I send the QR code to someone I want to talk to via email, anyone intercepting this message will at the very least know my SimpleX address; same thing if I send it via messenger. edit: let's assume we don't have an established and trusted channel. furthermore, they're not expecting this info.
I just wanted to say, as someone who has been reluctant to try and convert his friends and family to alternative communications platforms for years due to perceived shortcomings with all alternatives, I think SimpleX might just be good enough. Thank you very much for the work on this amazing solution.
Hello I'm trying to create a discussion between my Simplex application on my Android, and the Simplex CLI application on my Linux. But either I don't understand how it works, or something isn't working. On the cli version version, I understand that you have to do /c to create an address it replies /c > BROKER {brokerAddress = "smp://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx=@smp4.simplex.im,xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxx.onion", brokerErr = NETWORK} is this all you have to paste on the Android side to be able to chat?

This relay will be migrated to the datacenter in the UK to reduce the latency for most users. The migration itself takes less than 30 minutes, the DNS changes propagate in 1-3 hours (based on tests we ran). The relay will remain available on the same hostnames but with a different IP address. The migration will start from 4pm UTC. If you use Tor, it will be available as soon migration is complete, within 30 minutes - we did such migrations before without announcing them. If you use public Internet to connect SimpleX relays, it will become available as soon as DNS updates. If you have some important contacts where you use smp10 relay to receive messages you can switch them in advance (it won't be possible to switch during migration).

New in v5.1.3: Fixed video calls on iOS! Much faster group deletion. New preset SMP servers - add them in server settings (they will become default if you've never saved server changes, that includes server test results though). Many small fixes.
