It's been more than a year since I just quickly set up the community icon and banner. I want to change it sometimes, to highlight some artists and albums, new or old. Please recommend here artists with nice logos. I'm planning to change them after some months. I will document the previous logos and banner images in this post: | From | To | Icon | Banner | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | 2023-06-16 | 2024-07-30 | Aphex Twin | [Various Artists - Artificial Intelligence (1992)](https://warprecords.bandcamp.com/album/artificial-intelligence) | | 2024-07-30 | ? | Squarepusher | [Squarepusher - Ufabulum (2012)](https://squarepusher.bandcamp.com/album/ufabulum) |
Another 90s song for Throwback Thursday! Beat Creator! The devastating beat creator!
Cylobian Sunday! I noticed their Myspace page has 3 unreleased tracks https://myspace.com/cylobotnia * LAB Nostalgia * Laughing and Barking * Burn the Mill But Myspace songs don't work anymore. Anyone know where to get these? "Laughing and Barking" seems like it was previously called "Laughin and Barfin" here: https://web.archive.org/web/20071230010703/http://www.myspace.com/cylobotnia

happy Friday the 13th! a spooky song to kick off the season
Throwback Thursday! Classic track and album, stay for the whole playlist
Rognvald aka Beatwife, unreleased tracks from 2016
Rognvald aka Beatwife
Another Mr Kindhoover track. I can't stop listening to this one, really amazing remix of Do You Know Squarepusher. https://soundcloud.com/mrkindhoover https://mrkindhoover.bandcamp.com/music (all free) This Youtube video was uploaded in 2013, the original source appears to be Myspace, but Myspace won't tell me when the song was uploaded there https://myspace.com/mrkindhoover/music/songs According to Discogs, Mr Kindhoover was actively releasing albums from 2008 to to 2011, so it's likely in that range. https://www.discogs.com/artist/2030885-Mr-Kindhoover
One of those songs I can leave on loop

From the album You're Only Young Once But You Can Be Stupid Forever Releases October 18, 2024 https://bogdanraczynski.bandcamp.com/album/youre-only-young-once-but-you-can-be-stupid-forever
There's a 2013 release of this song here: https://www.discogs.com/master/1516890-Various-EDM-B2 I always think of this Godzilla video when I hear this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzC6M1b9aR0
Cylobian Sunday, I almost missed it! lol
Cylobian Sunday! > "Cylobian Sunset", recorded in 1994 and first released two years later, has since become regarded as an underground classic of electronic listening music. The tracks for "Bounds Green", released in 2007, were culled from the same sessions, and both albums share the same warmth, simplicity of style and melancholy.
Cylobian Sunday! This time with Squarepusher making a guest appearance! Couldn't find all the songs separate this time so just use this video of the full EP, this song starts at 13:37 in the video.
A fun remix from the Flexing Habitual album
Throwback Thursday! Here's another Rephlex classic from the 90s, in honor of Squarepusher being our community's new icon and banner image.
Cylobian Sunday! This playlist is Previously Unavailable On Compact Disc (1998), but this track is from Kinesthesia Volume 1 (1993) https://www.discogs.com/release/990-Kinesthesia-Kinesthesia-Volume-1 I used the original longer version "Triachus (Aphex Twin Mix)" instead of the version from 26 Mixes For Cash, unfortunately the audio quality is a little lower here. Normally "Previously Unavailable On Compact Disc" ends with "Durftal" as track 13, but I added more tracks from the source releases that weren't part of the CD release for the sake of completeness. These tracks are pretty rough though lol. I used Discogs for the info: > Compilation of tracks previously released on following only-vinyl records: > > Tracks: 1/9/10/11 taken from Kinesthesia Empathy Box (Remixes)[CAT 022]. > > Tracks: 2/7/8 taken from Kinesthesia Volume 2 [CAT 014]. > > Tracks: 3/5/6 taken from Kinesthesia Volume 1 [CAT 011]. > > Tracks: 4/13 taken from Cylob Industrial Folk Songs [CAT 015]. > > Track: 12 taken from Mururoa Project [STOP 1 T]. > > All tracks written and produced between 1993 and 1995. https://www.discogs.com/release/13964-Cylob-Previously-Unavailable-On-Compact-Disc And since it includes tracks from Empathy Box (Remixes), it seems relevant to also mention the original Empathy Box release https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tT-OycUpo74&list=PLZBQ5U70ekuHjclewtPaI7an1fsbyQ8DX&index=1 I actually haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but maybe I'll post one of these tracks for next week's Cylobian Sunday.
Throwback Thursday, with another from Rephlex. This track was also part of the Rephlexions compilation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHETJs4Avgc&list=PLzu6wiIkdZPzhFbnn6p2sZYokiPpcmKf9&index=16
I'm not sure why this album was on Analogical Force instead of Planet Mu but it's good
another Cylobian Sunday! I've also had the song "Cum To Me Baby" stuck in my head for a while lol, but I think the first track of the EP is the favorite by most people. If you like this style of Cylob also check out his release "Lobster Tracks" from the same year, I'll have to post one of those songs on some other Cylobian Sunday. This song was also featured on 2003's Rephlexions compilation https://www.discogs.com/master/12211-Various-Rephlexions-An-Album-Of-Braindance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90mdK7JmrB8&list=PLzu6wiIkdZPzhFbnn6p2sZYokiPpcmKf9&index=3
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.smeargle.fans/post/207545 > [HN Discussion](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41088224) > Aphex Twinβs βVordhosbnβ just got a surprising video reveal, showing how the track was made. !idm@lemm.eeIntelligent dance music (commonly abbreviated as IDM) is a style of electronic music originating in the early 1990s, defined by idiosyncratic experimentation rather than specific genre constraints. It emerged from the culture and sound palette of electronic and rave music styles such as ambient techno, acid house, Detroit techno and breakbeat; it has been regarded as better suited to home listening than dancing. Prominent artists associated with it include Aphex Twin, Autechre, Squarepusher, Venetian Snares, Boards of Canada, Telefon Tel Aviv, ΞΌ-Ziq, the Black Dog, the Future Sound of London, and Luke Vibert.
