I think I'm pre-traumatized just thinking about the implications of this crossover.

I haven't played any Breaker games before. Seems okayish. Controls are better than SDBA at least. This is *probably* nostalgia glasses but it still doesn't feel as crisp as the PS2 Versus games. Feels kinda mashy/mushy. Or, you know... skill issue. 😒 The editor lets you get really in the weeds with coloring and markings. But holy crap the button commands are all over the place. All the fun is in the top half... no mixing and matching legs and waists. Looks and runs well enough on Switch, but the load times leave a lot to be desired. And the lack of cross platform play is killer. In an earlier gaming age this would be a day one purchase for me just to say, "Yes, more like this please, and keep improving." But I'm wary due to the prevalence of endless monetization and drip-feeding content, especially with the focus on online play, events, etc. I think I'm gonna let this play out for a bit. But I'm glad I got a chance to give it a go.

cross-posted from: https://sh.itjust.works/post/21899212 I was very confused until I saw the Bandai Namco logo and remembered both IPs are owned by the same entity. Now I'm only a little confused.

I have a love hate relationship with Gundam movies. I love that they exist and that they've given us some iconic moments, but I hate how rushed they feel most of the time. Seed Freedom is no exception. ::: spoiler 🦜✝️🥜 The first act is definitely rushed. The players and their relationships (and how things have changed since Destiny) are barely set up. But damn does it ever go hard. And by the end, they hit just about every Seed trope possible. Whether that's a good or bad thing is definitely a matter of taste, but there is no doubting that they were committed to the bit. I had a good time, and everyone cheered when ______ got his ass beat. ::: If you hated Seed/Destiny, I don't see this movie changing any minds. But if you enjoyed that universe, it's worth seeing IMO. It's quite possibly the most Seed thing ever. I give it 4 V-fins.

Posting this as I was prompted by a memory in !metal@lemmy.world . 08th Team is one of my favorite Gundam shows, and Nightwish is one of my favorite bands. I think the editing here is top notch. Hard to believe this came out ~20 years ago. Rubyeye, if you're still out there, cheers.

On a related note, I have successfully gotten my nephew into Gundam... but his 14 year old Transformers-obsessed brain simply refuses to accept that Optimus would get urfed by even a GM beam spray pistol, let alone a newtype snipe.

Heavy spoilers for Gundam X, plus a long-ish in-video ad for some licensed Gundam Seed gear. I wasn't expecting too much out of this but Kakarot's humor carried it for me. RIP Unit 3.
