Diabetes

Dear all Just ordered my (first) trial Freestyle Libre attachment! I understand it's a v2 (flash) not a v3 (CGM). I don't think that they send v3 as trials. Can I have any hints for anyone who has never used anything like that, please. I think I saw that people use a bandage like thing to help keep it on, but hints about simple things like where to put it and showering/bathing would also be appreciated. Thank-you in advance.

One thing I really struggle with is managing my eating. Food has always been difficult for me. When I'm dieting, I can pretty much shed weight without issue, but when I'm not, or when I'm feeling low (which happens a lot now) I tend to just throw myself against the wall and eat what I know I love. Which brings me to this: What are your favourite diabetic-friendly snacks?

Okay. So I'm fairly new to this whole Diabetes thing and I was wondering if anyone could answer this question.... Why do I always feel tired? For context. I think I've got some aggravating factors. I worked overnights for 15 years, so my body clock is...well, f*cked. I've also got two young kids, one of which is still yet to sleep through the night and as yet, sleeps in Mums bed, meaning I've been sleeping on the sofa, which likely doesn't help with how well I sleep. All this taken into consideration; is it normal to feel this constantly ready for a nap?

Whoops! Forgot to exclude my [#nightscout](https://mas.to/tags/nightscout) containers from auto-upgrades, which means the database went down when MongoDB released version 7 yesterday. I was wondering why my wife's phone wasn't receiving my blood sugar numbers. Just [#selfhosted](https://mas.to/tags/selfhosted) [#diabetes](https://mas.to/tags/diabetes) things! 😅 Luckily, manually setting the Mongo container image to version 6 and re-deploying fixed it. My Endo just started me on Ozempic. I'm a type 2, 42 years old and I've been in the low 7s for my A1C for the last 6 months with using metformin, Jardinace, glipizide, and moderate exercise and diet changes. I am about 30 pounds over weight as well and have been having a horrible time losing any weight at all. Anyway, I'm starting at a 0.25mg dose for four weeks then moving to the therapeutic dose of 0.5mg after, and even now while starting the 0.25mg dose, I really have no desire to eat. It's like a switch was flipped. Before, I was thinking about what to eat next constantly, was basically food fixated, and now I couldn't care less. Maybe it's partly a placebo effect, but hopefully not. Anyway, just wanted to share my starting experiences with Ozempic. I'll come back and update as I go along with this medication. Thanks for reading!

Okay so I found out I was diabetic last year and for the most part I've done pretty well at managing it, and getting my numbers down. However I've always felt very..... lathargic, especially in the mornings. The fact that I'm awake at 4:30 am for work, and haven't slept a solid night sleep in 16 months (baby) doesn't help, but yeah...always tired. Until yesterday when I had some sugar free chewing gum at work. The difference was night and day. I'm usually yawning every 3-4 minutes, but with the gum I felt almost reborn. So I guess I'm wondering....wtf?

A patient was asked to debate a doctor on whether do-it-yourself automated insulin delivery is still needed now that DIY AID is becoming more commercially available. Personally, I will always advocate for patient empowerment. It's *my* disease, and I should be able to treat or deal with it how I want.

Until Lemmy gets a flair system, I thought we could share our diabetes equipment in this thread. My stuff for T1: * Dexcom G6 * TSlim X2 * Novolog

I just had to call my endo to change my insulin to Novolog because my insurance decided they like it better. This is after the same insurance switched me to Humalog late last year. I'll never understand insurance companies.

www.dexcom.com

Just recently released in the US, but my pump (TSlim X2) doesn't work with it yet 😭. Is anyone using it yet, and if so, how has it been compared to your previous CGM?
