La revista norteamericana “2600” creó los encuentros 2600, que en la actualidad se celebran en decenas de ciudades de Estados Unidos y fuera.
Los encuentros 2600 se remontan a tiempos inmemoriales, a los albores de la informática, el phreaking, el hacking y son un foro para todo aquel o aquella que esté interesado en la tecnología, para hablar, aprender, enseñar, compartir, etc.
Los encuentros están abiertos a cualquiera, de cualquier edad o nivel de experiencia.
Se celebran el primer viernes de cada mes y los organiza una comunidad de forma totalmente altruista.
Con este grupo 2600 se pretende reunir seguidores, interesad@s, curios@s y nuev@s de la cultura original hacker y por su puesto la ética hacker a cómo lo define "Steven Levy" en "Hackers heroes of the computer revolution", sobre todo lectores de la revista de hacking 2600 que lleva desde 1982 abriendo mentes creativas, exploradoras, subversivas y de mente crítica.
